Finished A Storm of Swords, the third book in George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series, the other day. If you like fantasy with a pseudo-historical, realistic edge, I highly reocmmend it. But be warned - you may be left wondering, by the end of the third book, if there will be any living characters by the time it all ends up!

it's a wonderful series, yes. although i must admit, i was rather hoping for romance to blossom between Sansa and the King's Dog.

Ol' Sandor has become a lot more interesting character than I ever figured he would be, actually. At first it seems he's just a run-of-the-mill evil minion, until you realize that he hates himself. Only one thing keeps him going - he hates his brother even more.

but god, so long between books is a drag. i had to re-read the first one before i could read the second. i had to re-read *both* before i could read the third. and now i'm clear enough on the first one, but i'll have to re-read 2 and 3 before i can take on the fourth. (i read fast, but my retention is... well, you know what my memory is like.)

martin's website gives updates on when and such. his most current post says he's still writing it, but that's been up for a few months. he claims he'll post as soon as he's done.
and i will be re-reading the first three before reading number four. of course if it comes out by december, i better get reading now....
