[It's ten minutes since he made the announcement about the kidou barrier around Patrol HQ, and Kaien's on his way to the building. He's trying to avoid them as much as he can, since he knows he'll inevitably be surrounded if he takes the time to fight off each and every wave of them, but even so he's finding himself having to hack through a veritable sea of the zombies. He's kept Byakuya's advice in mind, and he's been incinerating them as soon as the walking corpses are swept (literally) off their feet by Nejibana's waves, and eventually he gives up on going by foot on the ground altogether, shunpo or not.

From his aerial view, he soon catches sight of a very familiar redhead with his puppets, and a zombie creeping up from behind. It's quickly dispatched with a well-aimed Shakkahou.

He leaps down from where he was standing in the air, dispersing the reiatsu around his feet and landing lightly by Sasori's side.]

Yo. Back-to-back's supposed to be the best in this sorta situation. What d'you say, Sasori?

[Sasori's never been so happy to see Kaien, but keeps the outward expression of his relief subdued as always.]

It sounds like a prudent strategy, yes.

[His fingers dance, and Hotaru sends another serpent of fire curling outwards in a loop around them, following the path Ran's shuriken take. Blood and ichor splatter before the nearest animated corpses are charred to a crisp.

A bit of amusement enters his tone.]

It's rather a pity you won't be able to properly observe my performance this way, however. I did owe you one, after all.
