"Enough with the nicknames already," growled Kurogane. It hadn't taken him much time at all to reach the pub, considering he was new to the area, but then again he did look slightly harassed, as though he'd had to move quickly through a strange crowd. With one hand, he rubbed the back of his neck, and let loose a nearly-audible sigh. Perhaps it'd been a bad idea to come find Fai; the pub was somewhat noisier than he'd prefer - not at all a conducive environment for 'catching up', if you could call it that.

He took a moment to look Fai up and down, and concluded that he at least looked healthy. So, life in this new place couldn't be all that tough. For a moment he considered buying a drink, before remembering that he had no money at all. It wouldn't do to ask Fai, either, so instead he turned away as though in thought, crossing his arms firmly across his chest.

"You have a place to stay in this country?"

Completely ignoring the part about the nicknames [like usual], Fai tilted his head, dumb grin still on his lips. "I have an apartment, if that's what you mean, Kuro-rin. I have food back there too. And drinks. You should have a room too, actually. But back in the Scorched baracks. Not where I live. You have to move out of there after a month or so to make room for new arrivals."

He couldn't help but notice that Kurogane looked slightly uncomfortable. It could have been the crowd in the pub, or the unknown area, or maybe he was still woozy from the transport through the Door - most people passed out once teleporting, but he had a feeling Kurogane probably didn't allow himself that priviledge. Also...

Untwining his fingers, Fai moved closer to the man, completely ignoring his personal space like every other day they'd been together, and reached up to brush his fingers just lightly across the bandage on the taller man's face.

"Hyuu~ what did you do there, Kuro-puu?"

Perhaps distracted, Kurogane didn't respond poorly to the touch. His eyes continued to scan the room, passing over faces as though expecting something. At length he seemed to tire of observing the drunkards around them, and made a move towards a nearby table, pulling out a stool to sit on.

"... Got into a fight."

Was that vague enough? The little incident he'd had upon arriving in this world lingered ominously in his mind. He seemed somewhat... diminished, or at least, his usual temper was, instead replaced by wariness. It didn't help that he had no weapon at hand - having something to defend himself with (should the need arise, of course) would have been a comforting thought. Perhaps he could purchase one... But again, it all came down to being able to work and get some money... Such mundane thoughts swept away the unease that had descended upon him. He began to drum his fingers upon the table, as though impatient to get started at a job that had yet to present itself.

Fai quirked an eyebrow as Kurogane moved away from his touch without even a reprimand, plopping down on a bar stool uncerimoniously. Still curious, Fai grabbed a stool from a nearby table, twirling it around gracefully and sliding onto it to sit across from the slightly-grumpy man.

Her rested his elbows on the wood, once again entwining his fingers so he could rest his chin on them. His head tilted slightly, curiously, as he appraised the man. He did look a little worse for wear - besides the obvious, Fai could note slight bags under his eyes, and a certain weariness, although, that could just be impatience shining through.

"A fight, Kuro-pii? I'll assume your attacker looks worse for wear than you do, hmm?" He placed a finger to his lips, allowing his other hand to simply rest on the table. "Although, I can't think of many things that would be so bold as to attack you in the middle of town by the door? What was there, Big Puppy?"
