[Normally, he'd have made sure her collar was snug before taking her outside, but he had been distracted. In fact, ever since the fallout with Riza, he's been there, but just slightly off-kilter... and now he's paying for it.

The moment she saw something that caught her attention, Allison slipped her collar and bolted after it. He very nearly let her go, chalking it up to his own miserable luck, but Allison is the only thing that keeps him from retreating back into old habits -she's the closest thing to a child he wants- so instead of walking away, he's chasing after her.

He doesn't even notice the Ishbalan man, too intent on catching the runaway pup, but it's the first time he's brought her down into Dismas on a leash instead of carrying her and he's worried that either she'll be unable to find her way back or she'll get attacked by something that could easily make a meal out of the little fluffball.]

[...That dog sure is fast. With even the brisk pace he's walking at he wouldn't have a chance of catching the dog. And it's...almost surprising that Mustang is chasing it so intently (why is it odd to see the evidence of a more caring side in him?). He spends barely a moment in debate before speeding up a bit, until he's about at pace with Mustang.]

I'd ask what you were doing bringing a dog down here, but it hardly seems the time.

[That typical voice is jeering at the back of his head, the one that tells him he really has gone soft--You're helping a State Alchemist catch his dog now? How pathetic.--but he ignores it. Doesn't know why, but maybe it is in deference to Hawkeye.]

When we get a little closer I can try to slow it down.

[Yes, he did just say "we", why do you ask?]

[For such a little thing, she sure can move, and she doesn't show any signs of stopping in the near future!

As for Roy, he's a little surprised to see Scar fall into step with him, but he doesn't want to lose sight of the little yappy fluffball.]

I was trying to avoid an encounter with someone.

[It's all the more he wants to say on the subject, and he doubts the man will push the issue...

...but he caught that "we" in there and he's grateful for the help, even if he won't show it or say it aloud until everything's over and done.]

As long as she's unharmed. I'm not losing her, too.

[There is a very dark scowl that forms on his face at that second comment, and if he were a crueler man he would have punched Mustang in the face right there just so he'd fall and lose track of the damn dog.

Instead, those red eyes narrow dangerously and there's a layer of ice as he speaks next.]

I'm not heartless enough to wound a dog, Flame Alchemist, whatever you may think of me.

[But he continues running, even speeds up a bit. The sooner they catch the dog, the sooner he can just go home.]
