DAY ONE - THE FENCING. supercilious May 12 2011, 02:05:12 UTC
[ The arena for fighting is large, and lined with stands for watchers and supporters. Opportunistic Natives walk the crowds offering food and beverages at twice the cost of their market price. Off to one side, the medical tent. To the other, the chest that supposedly contains first prize sits on display, beneath the board that keeps track of today's fights. Currently it reads:

Desmond v Ezio
Rex v Kay
Break v Isley
Gau v Kaien
Asellus v Fai
Noel v Irene ]

DAY ONE - SOME OF THE FENCING - Noel v Irene halcyonthird May 12 2011, 19:25:53 UTC
[There's an ease about her stance - a fluid, calm as she parries. If she's concentrating, it's difficult for a bystander to tell. Noel is fast, but she is faster.

Another parry, then?

Will you get a hit in, former Number Five? Perhaps if I were fighting the former Number Four...

It is completely possible that the slight smile on her lips suggests what she's thinking.]

[Of all the people Fai could have been pitted against, he had not expected to be facing a child he actually knows to some degree, much less one he actually kind of... likes.

Enough for him to slide from a more battle-ready mindset to that of someone who was simply looking forward to a bit of training.

So he smiles at her and rests the tip of his daggertail sword in the dirt as he faces her.]

Asellus-chan. It's a pleasant surprise to see you here. Let's do our best, okay?

[Never mind how amazing Gau's opponent is compared to him. The teen stands straight and... well, short, but straight... his attitude showing neither cockiness nor fear.

After all, he's thrown himself straight at 'certain death' several times in his life, died once, and ... well, he's not really at a point where he's scared of anything.

And this game isn't life or death.

So the young man exudes an air of calm, dressed in light padded armor (decorated with a Shimizu family crest) for the fencing.

He offers his opponent a bow.]

DAY TWO - MORE FENCING supercilious May 12 2011, 02:15:43 UTC
[ The arena has been put to rights overnight, in readiness for this new set of competitions. The crowds have swelled, and the lists of fights has changed:

Desmond v Rex
Isley v Kaien
Asellus v Irene

As afternoon falls, it will be time for the final three rounds, each champion fighting two others to see who will win the day! ]

DAY THREE - THE JOUSTING supercilious May 12 2011, 02:18:57 UTC
[ Most of the morning is spent setting up the field for the joust. There are stables at either end, now, and a long series of bars, around waist-height, splits the arena in two. The jousters are provided with lances and armour, should they desire it, and set at opposite ends.

The board now reads:

Kay v Gwain
Shirley v Isley

A small attraction, but certainly one never seen before in Anatole. ]

DAY FOUR - THE ARCHERY supercilious May 12 2011, 02:22:04 UTC
[ Targets line one end of the arena this morning! And a judge's table has been set up, in order for Priscilla, Riza, Elena and Arthur to judge each competitors skill, talent, and flair. Some combatants may have guns, and others bows of all kinds - the whole thing is somewhat mismatched. ]

[Riza takes her seat at the judges table early, as is her custom. She manages somehow not to stand out like a sore thumb despite being dressed neither in native or medieval style - she wears just a simple high-collared sleeveless red blouse and a black skirt - and she settles her two little companions on the ground near her feet. Hayate and Mami's puppy Naoki look like regular canine good citizens in her care, sitting calmly side-by-side as if they are prepared to watch the archery competition as well.

She looks out at the slowly gathering competitors. Well. This should be interesting.]

[ It isn't long at all until Arthur joins her, sliding into the seat beside her from the long table. His armor is hardly an uncommon sight in this dangerous city, but it's been well-polished and his cape is a splash of jugular red down his back. He's just finished one last check on the field, jogging from target to target, but rather than exhausted he seems extraordinarily happy, glowing a little with joy and exertion. ]

Riza! Good to see you. Been enjoying yourself, I hope?

Hello, Arthur.

[She can't help but smile back at him, he seems so exuberant. It's almost as if his happiness makes her that much less gloomy just by proximity.]

I have. And it looks like everyone else has, too. This community needed something to raise it's spirits, and you've seem to have done it.

[She glances back out at the field.]

How have the other competitions been going?

DAY FOUR - THE MELEE supercilious May 12 2011, 02:25:06 UTC
[ The event everyone has been waiting for! The stands are packed for this one, and once all combatants are gathered on the torn-up ground of the arena, Arthur reads the short list of rules: ]

You must stay within the area provided, your attacks must not injure anyone not also participating in the melee, and you must allow those who plead clemency to quit the field without further harm. May the best man - er, or woman - win!

[ And he shoots a gun he borrowed from this morning's marksmanship display into the air. Go! ]

DAY FOUR - THE MELEE - FLIGHT OF THE DERP girl_unlocking May 12 2011, 16:44:19 UTC
[Those of you that have trained Dawn (and egads there have been a lot of you) may recognize some of your hard work on the field if you aren't too busy participating in the melee, yourselves.

So she's probably not supposed to be switching up her technique so much, or using all of them at the same time, but dammit she is just so excited and THIS IS SO MUCH FUN, YOU GUYS.

Have an excited cry of boooyeah! as she fells one opponent (holy shit, you guys did you just see that?) followed by a quick wince as she's caught between a flail and a facepalm. Did she really just say booyeah out loud? Suddenly though, any embarrassment is yesterday's news because who knew Sebastian could fight!?The momentary lapse of her attention is enough for an unseen opponent to knock her back with enough force that she is now IN THE AIR, her flowy sleeves a sail of bright blue as she heads straight toward the edge of the crowd. Things are complicated by the fact that once launched, she tries to do what anyone would do if they found themselves in a similar ( ... )

[standing by the arena with his arms crossed. he's only kind of paying attention, distracted by the crowds of people and not even sure why he's here.

none of this works to his advantage when Dawn attempts a backflip and promptly crashes into him.

his first reaction is OHSHITOHSHIT SOMEONE'S TOUCHING ME. the second reaction is something along the lines of OH SHIT IT'S A GIRL and he almost trips over his own feet (and Dawn's dress) when he tries to stumble backwards. actually? scratch that 'almost.' he definitely tripped. ouch.]
