What: Some burdens are meant to be carried alone, others are meant to be shared.
Warnings: Angst, bromance that develops, two consenting adults uh...consenting...without actually consenting to much because it's a borrowed apartment!?

As with all things of this caliber, Zack had mixed feelings. Sure, hearing from Kunsel had made him happy (he missed him more than he let on to anyone save Irene), but there was tangled underbelly of frustration, of hurt, of anger, and try as he might, he couldn’t shake it. The way he had moved out, the way he had shrugged off Zack’s need to help him, the way he snapped… they were all painful, all slaps, all hurtful, even if unintentional ( ... )

So, maybe this was the wrong house after all? No one was coming to the door, nothing was sounding through the walls, and Zack was wondering if he wrote the wrong address down or took a wrong left at the gambling house back on the corner. It wouldn’t have been the first time, probably wouldn’t be the last, but it was still frustrating, especially if Kunsel was waiting somewhere else ( ... )

"I really didn't mean to make you wait for so long," said Kunsel, admitting Zack into the apartment, closing the door after him and setting the locks in place once again. "I was just thinking, you know? And I got lost in my thoughts. It took me a moment to realize somebody was knocking at the door."

He could make that claim, he told himself, because whether he'd been aware of the knocking or not, the rest of the statement was completely true. The latter half was more or less a cushion for Zack's feelings, because the other man could be as sensitive as he was himself...well, sometimes.

"Go ahead and make yourself at home. Clare won't be coming back tonight...so we've got the place to ourselves for as long as you feel like staying."

Although, it was nothing like home, but then again, Kunsel had a difficult time associating that name with most places-not something Zack needed to know, either. It was part of his aversion to accepting a room back in their shared apartment, and it was why he'd avoided taking up his own place when ( ... )
