[Never let it be said that Helen misses a party. If nothing else, they provide good distraction, and she could use some of that lately.

This one, though...she arches a brow as she lifts a ladle full of punch and watches it trickle back down into the bowl.

Definitely needs more alcohol.]

[She's not even sure what she's doing here. Sullen, somehow tired and very restless, she moves through the crowd. She might be glaring as she does. It's hard to tell with all that hair.

But there's music, and the opportunity to hear things she probably wouldn't otherwise. It's enough to at least draw her out for a little while. That and a new red dress.

But she doesn't plan on staying.]

{And oh, he saw that dress two miles away, following the sliver of color in and around crowds before finally creeping close enough for words. There was something about that sashay, that walk.}

You've certainly made yourself noticeable.

{Sidling up next to her, he tilts his head in gesture to her attire, hands folded behind his back in a relaxed, non-threatening stance.}

So what do you think of these affairs? Mm? You don't look impressed.

I assure you, I'm not.

[She turns, tilting her head as she takes in his attire - the mask in particular - and arcs a brow at his comment. Huffs in what little amusement she can afford.]

Have I? I hadn't noticed. [Second nature, and she really hadn't ...for once.] But you. You blend in perfectly. If you hadn't spoken I'm not sure I would have known you were there at all. [With your closeness. And that mask.]

I adore them, usually.

Just not today. [Was that box charming music from her own head, now? Yes, it very possibly was, unless someone else here was thinking of this song (which had been given to her earlier via this post).]

Would you be more or less impressed if you were dancing?

Do you dance?

[And the word dance comes out sounding all wrong, as it often does. A little suggestive, perhaps? Also a little bitter. Distant.]

{Is she serious? It was hard to tell at times, with this one. There was a venom in her-- this, he discovered quite early on. Not something he bristled at, mind you.}

I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or not, bella. Didn't mean to sneak up quite like that. {Uh. This time.} But no, you look splendid. {At least she's covered.}

{He sighs, glancing about at others filtering in from the door, faces he sort of knows but mostly doesn't milling around in their respective cliques. Arms folded across his chest, unconsciously on the defensive now, at her question, the music reaches him. Definitely not something he's used to.}

Eh. I can, but I doubt Firenze dances are the same as what people do here. There's an aristocracy to it. What plays now... this piece. It's odd. {In a good way, he thinks. Different.}

I doubt one could dance to it, though. Perhaps you should try. I'll tell you if it works.

[He'd told his Lieutenant he'd go, despite the fact that he really hadn't felt up to attending anything of the sort. He'd even gone so far to mention it to Hughes in hopes that the other man would come by to keep him company, but after setting foot out of his apartment (and after checking him over to ensure he didn't have a camera before he left), he hadn't seen him since.

For now, he's sticking close to the walls, keeping an eye out for his Lieutenant if just so he knows what she wore so he can say he was there.

Parties like this, especially after arguments like the one he'd had with her, really aren't his thing.]

[Parties like this really aren't ever her sort of thing, and yet here she is. It's been far less than stellar thus far - in addition to a very fun conversation with an unsavory stranger oh yes, she did see that Lust is here, thank you, but she's trying to pretend that she hasn't - but she can be very very good at keeping a lid on her annoyance when she wants to.

She navigates the crowd easily and comes up behind him, placing herself a pace behind and to the left of him without really thinking about.]

Colonel. So you did come.

[He almost backed up into her until her heard her voice. Well, at least now she knew he was there!]

Don't be silly, Lieutenant. I said I was going to, an--

[Anything else he was going to say dies when he actually turns to acknowledge her. Riza in a skirt was something he's seen before. Riza in a little black dress is something else entirely.

And his mind is trying to think of something to say, but all he can muster is a stammered and slightly awkward...]

H-hi...

[She raises one eyebrow at his stilted greeting, but decides to make nothing of it.]

Hello, sir.

[She glances away, scanning the crowd absently as she straightens her jacket with a little tug.]

Well. I'm glad you're here.

[She had some fun trying to get here. Between finding something for herself to wear and finding something for Stitchy... then attempting to dress Stitchy... and giving up... and finally wrestling her into restraints (full-body harness, some cuffs to keep her from grabbing anybody, a metal bit gag to keep her from biting... she got this stuff from some fetish shop she found in Dismas)... and slapping some bright silver adhesive stuff she found at the found goods store (yes, it's duck tape) over the naughty bits because some people might be a little sensitive...

Let's just say she's had her hands full.

But now she's at the party in a dress she acquired while taking Stitchy out to find something for the Abyss Feeder to wear, and attempting to get it to drink the punch like a civilized creature instead of some sort of animal.

...or as civilized as possible when its hands are cuffed and its arms restrained. Don't worry, she's going to be extra careful so that she doesn't get out of control.]

[This is Ishida, dressed in his traditional Quincy garb (such as he wears to Hueco Mundo), as he takes up his station near one of the bear walls, watching the festivities unfold.

He's not even sure why he was here. Perhaps to keep an eye on Kurosaki, since the Shinigami had a tendency to get into trouble. Maybe it was to keep an eye out in cause certain others started trouble. All he knew was that he was here, he was nursing a cup of water, and watching the others around him.]

[After several attempts to get Stitchy to drink and not eat the cup, she's decided that she needs a break and heads toward the walls, her hold on the three leashes she's got on Stitchy tightening as she passes by people.

Unfortunately, the only bare spot she can find is near a bespectacled boy and his cup of water.

Maybe she should ask first and make sure he doesn't mind having them nearby...]

Um, excuse me? Is it okay if we hang around here for a little while to get away from the crowd?

[At first, Ishida is silent, his eyes focused on Stitchy, trying to figure out what the heck it... she... was and not sensing any sort of reiatsu whatsoever from it, before turning his eyes on the other girl. He can sense something from her, that reminds him of some of the others around, and nods, once. It wasn't like it was his wall, after all.]

Ah... all right.

[Because it would be rude to say otherwise.]

Thank you. [And because she didn't miss him eying Stitchy.] I promise she won't eat you... even though she does that.

[As if on cue, Stitchy staggers toward him, leaning forward to sniff him.]

...just don't make any sudden movements and you'll be fine.
