[DAWN IS DERPING HERE] girl_unlocking December 24 2010, 03:21:37 UTC
[She's making sure the bunnies are evenly spaced, and that nobody messes with them, and arranging muffin!jenga on a table. She's also brought a small music player (Tunnelmen crafted, of course!) - it's on loan, but it plays requests! Yes, she is dancing by herself. I could be sake-related.]

[Rukia is cutting out spare paper bunnies and attaching them to ribbons just in case anything untoward should happen to one of the streamers over the course of the evening. One can never be too careful.]

[She's a little wary of the girl who seems to be dancing alone, but seeing as she's acting in the best interests of the decorations- so it seems- she is content to watch, strangely fascinated, out of the corner of her eye.]

[A few dance moves later (and her head is a little spinny by now anyway - more from the twirling than the sake - she didn't have that much sake) she stops, and heads back toward the table, thinking of grabbing a muffin (dancing makes her hungry) but stops to watch the creation of paper bunnies.]

Oh! You made all the bunnies! They're so ...cute!

...

I'm Dawn.

[Rukia watches the girl wobble towards her and is almost wary until Dawn breaks the ice with an opener that instantly proves to her that the strange, twirling girl, is quite clearly worth the effort to get to know. She obviously has excellent taste.]

You think so? Thank you very much, I'm glad you like them.

My name is Kuchiki Rukia. How is it that you know Ukitake-taichou?

[Sipping tea, likely by Lupin's side, should he be present, watching people speak and mingle, ever so often stealing glances at the music player. It seems to be close to the one at the HQ party a few months ago, when she'd had the pleasure of waltzing with both Father Anderson and Alphonse. And had earned herself a new name. All in all, pleasant memories. Especially the ones where Riza was glaring. She smiles in remembrance and shifts her position to better show off the see through quality of her dress. She cannot get enough wear out of it, seriously.]

[This woman. Deneve remembers her from that fight some time ago with what she had been told was a vampire. She remembers the woman's odd powers, too, though now, as then, she can't sense a yoki signature from her. This... intrigues her.

But she never caught the woman's name so she doesn't know how to address her. So, in lieu of a direct approach, she fixes silver eyes on the dark haired woman and nods when she catches her attention.]

[She's alone, as Remus has gone off to talk to ...a friend? A former colleague? He'd seemed deliberately vague, but not cryptic, and she hadn't pressed. Another sip of tea and she turns, noting the gaze of the woman she recognizes from - yes, another one of Belmont's fights. (Belmont and the other one, with the brilliantly colored hair?) Another of the tall (and very strong and very fast) colorbled women bearing swords. This was the one that had two swords.

She returns the nod. Offers a cool smile and inclines her head just a little.]

Yes?

[The acknowledgment was all she wanted. She might be a warrior, but she does have some manners. Cool and calm as anything, she closes the distance between herself and Lust.]

I believe we've met informally. In battle.

[She makes no attempt to hide her glance toward the other woman's hands, though it is not so pointed as to be rude.]

I am Deneve.

[his aunt had told him about some party-- something for some person who was more than muggle, but not quite a wizard, and he wasn't sure what it was that he was doing here. He assumed that he was going to be meeting people here, but whether or not they were worthy of the attention of a pureblood, Draco assume that only his aunt would be able to tell him.

Turning to her finally, he lifts his chin up, doing his best to look exactly every bit the Malfoy that he was]

Who is the person we're seeing again, aunt?

[Matching that chin lift with one of her own (as if it had slipped for one minute, really? Ridiculous.) Give her a moment as she recalls the correct pronunciation of his name. It's not really any more unusual or difficult than the names she is used to, especially in relation to spells.]

Jyuushirou Ukitake. You shall address him as Ukitake-san, Draco. [It sounds like a question. The slight lilt at the end of most of her 'not quite questions' that somehow implies an 'or else'. It's not entirely intentional.]

Some of these people, [And she lowers her voice here just a fraction, although it drips with arrogance.], particularly the ones from Ukitake-san's ...place of origin - with one or two exceptions of course - seem to recognize the importance of rank, class, and tradition. Not to mention power.

[Power is almost everything, after all. And she hasn't caught sight of Lupin, yet, if he's here.]

[it's clear by the look on his face that he's listening closely and storing the information that she's feeding him, his brows drawn together slightly as he tries to comprehend what it is that she's actually saying to him.

-san? what kind of thing was that to say? He wonders if the place that this Ukitake-san is from makes him more powerful than Draco or his aunt were, but that idea is easily shaken off. It's impossible for that to be true, if this man is simply just more than a muggle]

Ukitake-san. [he says it easily, though he stumbles just a little on the suffix, frowning a little. In his opinion, he imagines that they should be able and allowed to call whoever whatever they want. Isn't that their right as purebloods?]

They're powerful, then? Are they wizards or are they the same as those folk that are only just more than Muggles? [he's full of questions tonight, and maybe he looks just a little skittish.]

[Her gaze moves back to Draco from time to time, still searching the crowd.]

From what I hear, and I have no doubts that the information is reliable, some of them, possibly all of them, have lifespans longer than most of our kind. This alone makes them ...dangerous.

Their powers are unique to their kind ..perhaps similar kinds? This is also what makes them worthy. It's not like ...picking up a blasted sword, or firing a gun. [Oh, yeah, she's been shot a few times AND IT SUCKS. Even though she kept the bullets. And kind of liked it.] What use is something if just any sort of ...creature can learn it?

[Narrow eyes.] Now, now, there's no need to look so nervous.

Titles. It's nothing more than good breeding and formality. It is a sign of respect. [You are free to hate whomever you wish in your thoughts.] Your father [Pffft. There's a poor example of a Death Eater.] initially intended for you to attend Durmstrang, did he not?
