[The last knock will reveal that the door is open. It's dark - which makes sense, it's the middle of the night. She's in the corner, standing against the wall, having backed herself into the corner. Holding the forge - and there's sound coming from it. Jason may recognize his own voice.

A click as she presses a button, backs it up and again - the voice. Following it: a gurgle. Like someone trying to talk through a sudden rush of blood.

Click.

Replay.

Click.

She spots him.

Her smile is horrifying.]

/crying forever.

[his fingers run along the wall to find a switch, to see more than by the light of the street-

He recognize those sounds.]

Oh gods Dawnie, no, I told you, I told you not to look... [he steps closer fast, one hand reaching for her Forge, one hand going to touch her- maybe it's a hug, after all]

'T's never going to happen, you hear me? Never...

/hands you a tissue

[girl_unlocking]

[She doesn't move until he reaches for the Forge - and it's a reflexive jump - a twitch of terror - but her eyes don't leave his. Her smile fades a little. Puffy, red eyes - and not much behind them at the moment.]

[never say never, dawnie]

Do you know? What I was trying to tell you?

I don't remember.

[Hard swallow. Wince.]

/that's not going to be enough

[he puts his hand on her shoulder, carefully - he's expecting her to flinch at that too.]

It was a dream, Dawn. [and maybe there was some truths in there too] Just a dream.

[and if his voice sounds like it's breaking on the words... it's because it is.]
