Jason came down from the roof - Martha had used it as a sniper nest, during the zombie episode, and she had been right. Jay liked to spend his breaks there. Not having a roof anywhere else than under his feet was... good.

He was... cautious of the current episode. People reappearing with years on them while they had never disappeared in the first place, talking about it being strange to be back. It wasn't like it made a lot of sense, it screwed with- not, who was he kidding? This was Anatole, expect the unexpected, and it'll still threw you for a loop.

There was also a lot he didn't want to think about, right now. Dawn's appearance and confidence and moves...

He got in and slipped behind the counter, hanging his jacket on a hook, and turned to face the bar.

"You do look the same!"

And it's weird. Kind of. Well, okay, a lot, but it's good weird. Mostly?

"Holy crap. It's just. Well, it's different in person than over that tiny ...you know." Her head's tilting again, and she's grinning, despite her earlier thoughts.

Eyes narrowing just a little, she rises from her seat and steps back. "So. How the hell do I hug you when you're on the other side of the bar, huh? Is that a ploy? Cause ...I can so jump over that. And I will if you don't move your butt over here right now."

Okay. Maybe I will. But don't test the theory. Seriously.

"It may have been two weeks for you, but it's been ten years for me."

And no one deserves a hug more than you, Jason. For real.

"How were you expecting to find me? I didn't move from here." You did, and wow, thinks Jason. Dawn here and there, seated at the bar, looking all confident, is all the little girl's potential and then some. And she had remembered him. He grins back.

'Hug' takes him a bit by surprise. 'Ten years' even more. He keeps grinning though, dares her to do it, to jump over the bar and try to touch him, folds his arms and leans on them above the counter top.

She could do it, easily, if what he saw on the Forge earlier was any indication. He couldn't spot a particular school of martial art in her moves, but she looked trained, and well-so.

If his hands are imperceptibly tensed at the idea of the hug, well.

"I don't do hugs, Dawnie. My chiseled good looks right in front of you aren't enough?" She looks really good. She looks happy. He huffs a little laugh, "So you're the older kinda-superhero of dangerous and awesome in this relation, now."

"I didn't expect to find you." she says softly, and she's surprised she hasn't looked away by now. The last few years she's gotten pretty good at not always being the first one to break eye contact. It no longer feels awkward.

And she grins back, a little, and asks. "Fine. No hugging." she teases lightly, "Jason Todd. Too cool for hugs. Contrary to popular belief, hugs do not ruin one's image as a certified badass. Especially when most people can't break your hugs. It's like a sleeper hold, but snuggly, and with good intentions."

She shrugs. "Oh! I have slayer strength now." As if that explains everything. "I could totally pick you up. You know? With my arms? Not with my amazing pickup lines. But I won't."

That grin is to let him know she's joking ( ... )
