His hand grabs for the forge, his eyes confirming what those words suggested had happened. And oddly enough, he's not sure whether he's upset, embarrassed, or just empty.]
I know... but not every 'death' is a physical one.

[It's difficult for her to tell what is her first thought upon seeing this. It's nice to hear his feelings, unasked and unfiltered, but mostly she's worried - because the sentiment has now been broadcast across the network and even more because of the damaging fears he's attached to it.
So she speaks softly into her Forge. He's just in the next room, but if he's still asleep, she doesn't want to wake him. To people like them, sleep is precious and must be taken whenever it can be had. And even moreso now for him since he's still recouperating. But she can't leave this unsaid. If nothing else, he will wake up to the message later and know how she feels.]
It was never your fault. And I'm not planning on going anywhere. Even if I do, even if I die, that won't have been your fault either. And certainly not the fault of how you feel. You must know that.

[Hers is the last he responds to, not because of any fears or doubts, but because he honestly doesn't know what to say to it. So when he comes back to it, the screen is turned toward the ceiling, the Forge lying on a pillow while he shifts his position, trying to get comfortable now that he's awake. It's easier if she can't see him. If he can't see her. Words are always easier that way.

Don't worry about that.
[Easier isn't always better. She's sure they both know that there is a difficult conversation in their future and, hard as it is, she usually prefers to do it in person. It feels more honest that way. But she doesn't move from her desk quite yet.]
Are you awake?
[Sounds like an odd question, maybe, considering he answered her, but really it is more like asking if she'd be disturbing him if she came in.]
[There's a moment of silence. Because honestly, what do you say to this? Maes can do serious, he has done it before, but he tends to try and not do it around Roy, since the other man is serious enough for the both of them. In the end, however, there really is only one thing he can say.
He hopes you understand that he returns the sentiment, Roy.]
