I fail to see how this could be 'homemade mackeral miso' when obviously no one made it and it's coming from a basket.

I haven't tried it yet. I'm rather leery, considering that I didn't make it.

Well, mine seemed pretty legit. You should take it as a gift an' stop your bitching.

I am not "bitching", Abarai.

[He's just being paranoid, bro!]

Mackeral miso...

I have no idea what that's supposed to taste like, but it certainly is fun to say.

I usually stew the mackerel in the miso paste, but apparently this place has decided to put their own twist on it, by giving me miso soup with mackerel in it.

Soup?

[Yeah, that's interest. Merlin forgets about the words he doesn't know, focuses on the one that he does.]

[And likes.]

If you're not sure about it, I can try it.

Ah... well, if you'd like, I'm still in my apartment in the community block.

I haven't tried it. Considering that last year had the refilling bottle of alcohol, I'm rather hesitant to try it without knowing what other strings could be attached.

Besides the bottle no emptying? I know that someone complained that they couldn't find their fork.

[Wrinkles nose slightly. Not too fond of fish, this one.] Ah, maybe it was made in someone else's home?

.... and placed in a basket?

Then again, stranger things have happened around here.

We~ell, I've got wine here of a stock that I know we depleted five years ago, and... [He holds up a jar with a faint grimace.] ...salted mackerel which according to the label was prepared six years ago, but which is - unfortunately - still fresh.

I can't say I'm surprised, given the nature of this place. Last year had refilling bottles of alcohol. I do believe a lot of the populace spent last year drunk and then hungover.
