[A thrashing turns on the Forge. The camera jolts to the side and stays there, recording at an odd angle. The room is in one of the non-distinct newcomer apartment units, and on the bed is a young man, struggling to sit up ( Read more... )

[The slip up was sloppy, yes, and now he's scrambling to cover. Although his efforts might be in vain, given the quantity of times he's apparently appeared here before with no memory of the event. It's one thing to recognise an error and patch it up; now there's simply too much he doesn't know. Best to lay low, put a minimal amount out there, and see who bites, essentially.

Plus, he doesn't feel like doing anything but typing right now.]

Dreaming was considered, but ultimately not worth mentioning.

[His dreams are usually pretty specific.]

Death is far more permanent than sleep.

[Okay, yeah, he's just gonna skip your rambling and get straight to the point.]

Is there some reason you can't get food for yourself?

Is there some reason I can't have food brought to me?

Everyone pulls their own weight in one way or another. Unless you're injured, you'll have to learn to take care of yourself.

You think that this is one of the distinct bubbles he talked about?

[Oh. Finally.]

Possibly. Based on the supposed properties of the "Mist" that have been mentioned, it could be an example of the universe's different physical constants. However, I am not a cosmologist, so without consultation I can't take the theory much farther.

How do you know about Tegmark?

Neither am I, unfortunately.

I make it a habit to read everything that I can get my hands on. You never know what piece of information you might need in the future.

A pity.

That's a good practise to have. Few subscribe to it.

[Be his best friend plz omg.]

A quick overview of the city leads me to believe science and technology are not very advanced. Do you know of any scientific organisations, whether native to the population, or from the hypothetical other dimensions?

I bee-leeve it is closer to a level three, ack, actually.

[Ax is excited to be speaking to someone who has studied this theory.]

Though it is poss, possible it is something-ing else entirely. People come here from places, play-sez, that follow different rules from my own world, but Anatole, toll-ay, seem-zuh more like a place where we are collected than a place that inherently break-suh the rules. Other than obvious, vee-uss, ones it has broken by bring-ing us here.

This is all a thee, theory, though. I am quite sure it is not the afterlife. But I know peep, people who... might have ree-son to think it is.

[A small frown, but then he brightens.]

There are many places to get delicious food-zuh.

Could you speak via text? I am having difficulty understanding you.

But I am glad to hear about the food.

[There's an audible sigh before Ax switches over.]

I have not seen any evidence that different branches of reality are represented here. In fact, it seems to me that preservation of timelines is one constant across all the worlds people come from.

You have encountered other worlds before?

[Sorry, kid, he needs to be able to know what you're saying before he can carry on an intelligent conversation with you.]

An interesting variable to add to the mix. Do you have proof of this timeline preservation?

Only theoretically. To my knowledge, it is nothing that has ever truly existed outside of fairytales.

A living book which needs be fed? Or perhaps that is the definition of all Maesters.

Regardless, let me tell you that there are several here who have been confirmed as dead, though they do not remember dying. Perhaps the afterlife does not continue as seamlessly from life as man is given to prostheletyze,

That is interesting to hear. Thank you.

[Not to mention troubling, given his own situation.]
