The city has witnessed great devastation at the hands of various enemies, yet its scars appear to be superficial. Everywhere I look, I see the changed expressions of the Natives. Their once resentful stares now foster gratitude and warmth ( Read more... )

A job, huh? [ And money right at the end of the day too... ] Doesn't sound too bad.

I had thought so, also. Then you accept?

[ He has no reason to decline. ] Sure thing, dude. When're we startin' this show?

[Dude...?]

My name is Isley.

And the project will begin shortly, as soon as Tony Stark, who will be overseeing everything, is prepared.

[Utena looks a bit confused. This man just contacts her out of the blue? For a construction project? This, from a guy who last she heard of was more interested in the demolition business.

Polite, but tentative.]

Why me? I don't have a lot of experience in construction...

Utena, you are newly arrived back to Anatole, are you not? This project will help you establish yourself once more.

Besides which, you demonstrated great reliability during the recent attack. This project requires more than heavy lifting. For example, you could keep track of all the materials used, those needed for the following days up to and including the day of completion, keep track of the money spent on such materials, occasionally dispense pay, paint, clean, and so on. Construction is not just a barbarian's job.

Y-yeah. I am. You pay close attention to what goes on here don't you? [It's not accusing, more just a statement.]

Well, all right. [She did warn him upfront about her lack of experience.] I'll do it. When do I start?

As close as I must, Miss Tenjo, although I will admit, I play particularly close attention to the activity of the Door. It is...something of a personal side project.

[Isley smiles for her, bright and warm...on the surface.]

Once I have received confirmation from all the team participants, I will refer your names to Tony Stark, and the project will begin. It will not be long, rest assured.

The construction of an observatory near the coast.

[Tell anyone outside of those included in the original filter, and he may have to bite your head off, Sam. Literally.]

Are you interested? It appears your brother is already quite willing to help.

Just as soon as I have confirmation of participation from all those going to be involved, and I am able to refer your names to Tony Stark so that he knows who he will be working with.

I do not think it will be long.

I hope the plans I sent you are sufficient for the observatory and planetarium.

It's not as aesthetically elaborate as I'd like, but we don't have modern materials here to work with.

I did not peg you for a man of modesty, Tony. [Isley appears...amused. If a touched surprised.] Given what you have to work with here, sufficient is an understatement.

I'm quite pleased with these plans. I look forward to seeing its progress.

As well, I have confirmed part of the crew that will be assisting you in its construction. My own man, Rigaldo, will be present, as well as Robb Stark, Sam and Dean Winchester, Utena Tenjo, and Buffy Summers. There are two more I am hoping to hear from soon, but if necessary, you're welcome to begin without them. If you're able.

You should see what I can make with everything at my disposal.

I'll need the stone ordered and delivered to the site. The natives have a quarry around here, I assume.

[They're not building all the village houses out of thin air.]

I'm forwarding a list of materials to your forge.

I hope those workers of yours have strong backs.

You needn't worry about the strength of my workers, although I have a few requests regarding them.

I ask that Miss Utena is put to work less doing heavy lifting, and more with various bookkeeping duties, cleanup, painting, and other such tasks. Of course, I trust your judgment. If you feel she is suited to more, it is your call. Simply put, she has expressed some concerns about her level of experience, but I did want this project to be as much equal opportunity for its participants as possible.

And the only other thing I ask is...for you to give Rigaldo as difficult a time as you possibly can.

I'm all for it. But if Stark gets cheeky, kneeward kicking may be not only appropriate but required.

Thank you, and if he gets cheeky, I'm certain he'll deserve as much.

Otherwise, how have you been, Buffy?

Busy beheading beasts of terrible origin and other such colorful activities.

I was hoping that we might train together again sometime soon.
