[ The forge comes on as it's dropped to the ground, bouncing a few times before it finally settles. Anyone familiar with the flooded section of the ruins should be able to tell where Kahlan is, even though the forge is currently upside down. A brown boot steps into view for a moment and then turns as Kahlan looks around. ]
Cara?! [ There's a

[CARA?]
[Someone...who knows he--hold on, it could be a different Cara. Not likely, but...it could be. Better find out.]
...Hey! Hey, that Forge. Uh, the device! Pick it up, you're gonna need that, trust me!
[Oh, way to be formal, Kunsel.]

Kahlan decides that telling this girl that Cara was probably very serious isn't in her best interests, so she just nods. ] That certainly sounds like Cara.

It's a little weird. Maybe a lot weird.
I'm Dawn, by the way.
[It's hard to find a balance between her former naivete and the bitterness that followed, but Kunsel's enthusiasm is grounding.]
And any friend of Cara's is okay by me, I guess, as long as they're not punching me in the face. Wait. That was Spike, not Cara. My memory's a little wonky. Sorry.

I'm Kahlan. It's nice to meet you, Dawn.
We... aren't exactly friends. [ There was less hatred there on Kahlan's side of things and she thought there was less on Cara's, too, but she couldn't be sure. ] Wonky... how? What happened, if you don't mind me asking?

...seems all bad. And it's good to meet you, too. I've had a couple of those. Not-exactly friends.
[Jason. Probably Heine, too.]
Um. I don't mind. Maybe it'll make more sense to you than it does to me.
Well. A little while after I got here someone poisoned the water, I think. Or ...they did something to it. I feel like I used to know why, or who, but it's like, when I try to think about it, it's just not. There?
But I remember freaking out, and not really being ...me. And Cara was there. I think I was dying. I guess she didn't punch my lights out, but she did kiss me. Technically.
Which is a little awkward since that's the only kiss I've ever had. Well, as me me, anyway. Maybe she took the memories out. Or maybe the Mist did.

Do you know if anyone remembers who it was or why they did it? [ Because Kahlan would be more than willing to help figure it out. She smiles softly at that last part, though. ] I don't believe it was a kiss. Mord-Siths have something called the Breath of Life; it allows them to bring people back from the Underworld. Or the brink of death, I'd imagine.
As for the memories... I would suspect the mist is to blame for that, based on what little I know of it.

And you totally will, I think. Kunsel's got your back, and he's the best person to have behind you. Or in front of you, or just beside you, really. Most people here aren't mass murdering jerkfaces at all.

Riza might. It's weird. I've never really thought about asking her. I guess I just...
...I dunno. Breath of Life, huh? So they're kinda like wizards, the Mord Sith? And are they all as terrible at accepting a thanks as Cara was? Because man, you'd think I was trying to make her sniff an asparagus muffin or something.
But I'm glad it wasn't a kiss. I mean, not that Cara wasn't pretty, because she so was, it's just...
...I think I'd like my first kiss to be with someone less cranky.
[Like maybe Rigaldo? What.]

...not exactly, no, though they do use magic. Some are worse, actually. [ There's a brief pause as Kahlan realizes something. ] Her agiels-- I've been told they worked here. Do you know if there was a man with the last name Rahl here at the same time Cara was here?
And perhaps someone you have feelings for.

[Nodding, because she remembers hearing about them working, too.]
I don't...
...I don't think so. But she did work for a man, I think. He was a friend of--- [A pause as her face falls a little.] Of Zack's. None of them are here anymore.
Feelings would be a bonus, yeah.

Do you remember this man's name? Or what he looked like?
It will happen when the time is right, Dawn.

Blame Berends, I guess.

Why would someone do that?
