[The video is clear, unshaking, and clearly taken from above the ruins... where Aizen is standing in midair, as he often does. Below, the trees shake violently and half-ruined buildings turn to rubble with the impact of... something. An unseen power, somewhere below.]In the time since my arrival here, I have wondered a great deal on the nature of

I'll take him. I'm sure we'll find a use for him.

You're OKAY WITH THIS?!
What is WRONG with you people?

I beg your pardon. Do you have some kind of a problem with a little business between partners?

[Aaaand okay. He knows there are issues here--he's still angry at them, and Aizen in particular, and he knows that Aizen really couldn't give a damn about what he has to say, but. But..]
I know you couldn't give less of a shit about any of us, and won't help us protect the civilians. But at least...
At least, don't hurt them. You were a shinigami once, a captain. [Clenches a fist at his side.]
As little as any of that means to you...please. You can do at least that much, in honor of that.

[Aizen goes quiet as he runs a finger along the edge of his armrest and listens to Kaien babbling about idealistic rot. Tch.]
The well-being of the civilians is hardly my concern, Lieutenant. I'm sure they've the good sense to remove themselves from the affected areas.
[A little pause.]
Or, shall I say, if they do not, then their deaths are on their own hands. Even the basest animal has the sense to flee from danger.

...Just because the dead tend to come back in Anatole is no reason to send him on a suicide mission.

[...wait, he'll just answer.]
If Gin were to die in such a conflict, that would simply be evidence of his own weakness. While I do not contest that the power of those three surpasses that of a captain class Shinigami, I would also suggest that worthiness is measured not simply in raw strength but in the acuity of mind - the quickness of thought - to use it to its greatest effect.
There are many stories, both factual and fictional, which elaborate this principle. While power is admirable, and desirable, in itself, it is only as effective as the will and intelligence that guide it. In this way does the proverbial mouse conquer the equally hypothetical elephant. This is the nature of things.
I'm sure you're aware of this idea, lieutenant.
I'm sure you're aware, as well, that Gin is more than capable of handling himself regardless of the odds. But I suppose if I were needed to defend him, I would consider doing so at that time.

If you'd like to wade into that conflict, you're welcome to it. And if you'd like to play defender of the people, well. That is hardly my role, or where my interests lie. What difference does it make to me whether the souls crushed are many or few?

That man, Isley, is rather protective of his things.

As for facing him, I do wonder what would motivate someone to do something like that.
