I ought to get paid for doing this shit.

All right, so, looks like we've got a lot of new arrivals coming in. Talk to the natives, they're not going to tell you anything useful, being a bunch of assholes the way they are.

So in the spirit of the season, I'll give you something to be thankful for.

Thank you, Mello. You're certainly well informed.

Did you draw up the map yourself?

I like to stay informed. You know what they say about knowledge.

Ha. Don't really have time to sketch. I pulled it out of the library.

Indeed I do.

And mmm, I'd say the thing about gaining new powers is odd, but nothing around here is very normal anyway.

[still it's also odd not knowing...]

Odd is one way to put it. A conservative way.

Wow that's a lot. [Not that he has the attention span to read all of it. Guy can fill him in on the important details later.]

How long did it take you to find out all that?

Why? Going to pay me by the hour?

[frustrated little growl]

Are you like this to everyone?

[Not that he's one to talk, really. But.]

[He sounds a little indignant.]

We're not stuck here forever. It's a matter of finding our way out.

And what's a speakeasy?

Another flower sniffer, I see. Whatever. I did say it was tenative.

You're too young for speakeasies.

A... flower sniffer? You've just got to keep your hopes up. We'll find our way out of here.

What's that supposed to mean?

All right.

Think about a carriage. Now take the horses off and make it run on its own. Now make it out of metal. Make it around five times its current size, lengthwise, but not much taller. Now string a bunch of them together put people inside it and make it run.

That's a train.

That's certainly a lot to take in... thank you for doing this, by the way.

Are the natives aware of the Forges- do they use them as well? Or do we need to go to them directly if we want to contact them?

They don't have them. They're made for us by, apparently, disciples of the original creator. Suppose that's worth an update.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!
