[The video clicks on to the sight of Kankuro, settled in a quiet place out-of-doors with some wood and basic woodworking tools at hand. He's evidently got his Forge propped up on something, since both his hands are occupied with what looks like a half-finished wooden box, something that'll be an appropriate size for rings or trinkets when it's ( Read more... )

Aha, I'm really sorry, but I'm still trying to carve out a living here myself. Just got here.

But they are neat!

[It's fine craftsmanship, Sasori notes. Kankuro clearly has a delicate hand suited for detail work, a necessity for any puppeteer who wishes to create true works of art.]

Hmm, you're rather skilled.

...But isn't this sort of thing a waste of your talents?

Yeah, I've had a little practice.

[Kankuro's tone is dryly amused; after all, what puppeteer worth the name wouldn't be good at this?]

A waste, huh? And just what would you consider not a waste, here?

Your first puppet. Have you begun constructing it yet?

And you're a shinobi, aren't you? Those talents are also ones you're letting go to waste.

I'm working on it. It's not going to put food in my mouth, though.

I'm a shinobi of Suna. Like I told you, old man -- I'm no mercenary.

Hm? It's a bit of fine woodworking, is what it is.

Yes. It's beautiful. You should be proud, having such skill.

Thank you. I've been working with wood for a long time, but it's still nice to hear.

[Itachi has debated asking Sasori to make what it is he wants largely because the older puppeteer wouldn't be as likely to charge him for the service, but it is because he understands what it is like to start off in Anatole with very little to work with that he decides instead to hire Kankuro to do the work, instead.

He has the ivories to spare, after all, spending very little on much of anything else beyond what is necessary.]

If you are so inclined, I could use a storage box for my weapons.

[Nyaaw, how nice of him. It throws Kankuro briefly to have Itachi coming to him, but hey -- customers are customers.]

The usual assortment, I'm gonna guess? Kunai, senbon, shuriken, tags... anything else?

[Nice, maybe, but he is requesting a practical service, and because he lives with Sasori, whatever Kankuro makes... Sasori can still have a look over later on.

Sneaky ninja is sneaky.

But what does it matter when everyone benefits? That's his logic, anyway.]

Yes, the usual in terms of weapons, perhaps with extra storage space for anything obtained in the future. And, if possible, I would like an advanced lock system included.

[He'd rather not have anything else stolen from him anytime soon.]

Sounds pretty doable. I'll have it done... [He lets his voice trail off as he runs through a quick mental calculation.] Two weeks. Maybe a little less, if it all goes smoothly.
