I was in downtown Silver Spring tonight, celebrating efbq's recent birthday and the birthday of another good friend of mine from the Green Party. We left the restaurant about 10:15 pm and headed back to where we'd parked the car on Ellsworth, when we ran into an extreme police presence, presaged by the cop cars which had been whizzing by the window

Not much, but it did get a little coverage. Sad but somewhat funny in a warped way.

Nothing there about what caused it, though the neighborhood blogs seem to be centering on gang activity...particularly, in fact, since some of those posting claim to be gang members.
