apparently someone from marvel said that girls can't be the subject of action films, so no black widow.

It's all very....contradictory. Kevin Feige (the head Marvel studios guy) said they've been spinning a BW story since 2010, but there are a lot of movies on the docket so he wasn't sure when that one would be made, but she's supposed to be popping up in an upcoming movie (at least).

Then some other guy I've never heard of from Marvel came out saying something like 'I don't think a female character can carry an action movie, and I don't there are any actresses up to the task if one could.' I side-eyed that guy so hard, whoever he was.

Feige, who has been behind this whole Avengers initiative seemed hopeful at least, and he said they liked the character. He could have been BS-ing, I suppose, but they've at least talked to ScarJo about it. So....*crosses fingers*

I for one want a SHIELD: Get Black Widow movie where we see SHIELD go in to put Natasha down. Thus we get to see a LOT of her backstory, lots of Hawkeye, AND SHIELD!! That includes Agent Coulson. :)

Maybe they can use this to inspire them. :)
