CCC Level 1 Course

Today I finally had my Cross Country Canada Level 1 race official course today. Now I am qualified to be an official at any race, as small as my local ski club, or as big as the Olympics. Now I just have to apply to races and to VANOC. Oh and VANOC wanted us so much that they subsidized the cost of the workshop. So instead of it costing me $55.00, ( Read more... )

That's pretty cool. I remember in grade 12 I got some sort of coaching certification (lvl 1 of 5.. but still! I think I can coach pee-wee.........)

I should really get more involved in the sports I enjoy, but I suppose I haven't figured out how I want to (i.e. compete, official, organizer, etc..)

You can do all of the above. Learning to become an official for cycling/running/triathlon doesn't take you out of racing, if anything, it will get you more into it. As you get involved with the setup of it all, it's assumed that you DO participate in the sport. There, you'd make lots of contacts and possible sponsors for when you CAN race ( ... )

Hm, poking around I can only find coaching certification.. and that's a bit much for now, as I don't even know if I'm keen on it yet ^_^ I just know I wanna try it. Heh

Oh, and I found how to re-certify my official's certification.....
