Rain tried to slip in unnoticed, unsuccessfully attempting to hush the herald, but smiled shyly when she saw Mat. She stuck close by him, doing her best to just blend in with the background.

Tony had already been at the ball for a while, dancing with Cat most of the time and mingling the rest. Once he saw Rain and Mat though, he detached himself from his date and moved over to the couple.

"Rain, you look even more gorgeous than normal," he told her, smiling. It was good to see her here, he knew she wasn't crazy about social situations but he thought this might be good for her.

And she did look gorgeous. Incredibly so.

Rain blushed furiously. "Thank you, Tony."

Tony beamed even more at seeing her blush, she really did look radiant. Mat was a lucky guy to have brought her.

"You're welcome, Rain," he told her. "You promise to save me a dance? If it's okay with Mat."

Dr. Horrible wandered the city, welding goggles and all, until he found the blue police box he had been told to look for. He had contemplated formal wear, but only briefly. Why wear anything else if he could get away with wearing this awesome outfit all the time? It might not be the best for dancing...but he'd told Emma he wasn't going to dance anyway.

The herald asked his name. "Dr. Horrible," he said confidently. Billy would have felt totally weird and awkward at a party, but Dr. Horrible just might enjoy this. He was announced and he entered the ballroom, reveling in the attention, and scanned the room to see if there was anyone he knew.

"Dr. Horrible!" the Doctor exclaimed when he saw the young man, making his way over the greet the guest. He wasn't someone the Doctor knew personally, but he had seen the young man on the network.

"I'm the Doctor," he added, extending his hand. "Brilliant of you to come."

Doctor Horrible shook the Doctor's hand.

"I'm glad I decided too. This is a very nice setup you have here. Very roomy. There is, in fact, rather a lot of room inside this room. Um, police box. Thing." He cleared his throat and managed to move on to actual conversation. "Nice to meet you. Are you a particular kind of doctor, or just 'the Doctor'?"

"Time Lord technology," the Doctor explained. He was always glad to brag on the TARDIS. "It's bigger on the inside. Very tricky to manage but very handy. Didn't even remember I had this room until a bit ago. And I'm sort of a doctor of everything."

Shortly after Donna wheedled, conned and trampled Julio into taking Sirja overnight for her, Claire got a panicked call - I have nothing to wear! Help me! - and somehow, despite the incredibly last minute nature of her plans, Donna is well put together in a borrowed dress and shoes, made up, and on time when her date picks her up. The dress is cute, the ballroom looks amazing, James Bond is gorgeous, and Donna's feeling pretty good about Christmas this week.

She's also pleased she did decide to go with heels. Everybody around here makes her 5'1" self feel goddamn tiny. "I really hope you dance," she says lightly to James, although she's pretty sure that's not going to be a problem.

Bond is certainly pleased that his date knows how to make herself up for a party, and he gives her an approving once-over when he stops by to pick her up. It's unfortunate that the Aston Martin still hasn't seen fit to show up, but he figures he'll just have to turn the charm up a notch to make up for it.

"Of course I dance," he replies, with a little grin, ushering Donna into the ballroom with a hand resting lightly on her back. "Is there anything you'd like them to play?"

If there's anything that Donna knows how to do, it's prettying herself up for a night out. She was that girl and handling herself socially is second nature; it's not a deferential charm so much as it is the intent to own her surroundings with the force of personality and glossy smile.

"Oh, lady's choice?" Presuming that you are a lady, Donna, which is a hell of a presumption. "I thiiiink that they should give me a salsa, actually. What do you think?"

Reinette stood beside the Doctor, beaming at the turnout. She listened as the herald announced the arrival of each guest, nodding her head in greeting to each. Despite the interruption in planning by the zombie invasion, things had turned out quite well, she thought.

The Doctor practically beamed as he watched the guests come in, greeting as many as he could. It was the perfect evening for a ball, the TARDIS warm and glowing against inside.

"It's absolutely brilliant!" he exclaimed, smiling at Reinette. "You did a fantastic job."

"You neglect to mention your hand in everything, Doctor. This ball would be nothing if we did not have a ballroom to host it in. We did fantastically," she said, smiling.

"Ohhh, I didn't do much," he said, scrunching up his face. "Welll, not everything. Welll, alright, we both did a fantastic job together."

The Doctor stepped back a bit and held out his hand to Reinette. He had chosen to wear an outfit that would match her in style since there was nothing worse than being a few centuries off in coordinating with your date.

"Now we just have to dance. Shall we?"

Managing to find something that she fancied and fixing up her hair for the occasion Rose entered the ball room. This was one room that she wasn’t really familiar with. The herald’s calling startled her just a little since her sights were focused straight ahead on the crowd but then she laughed to herself.

Walking over to the punch bowl, she made herself a glass and then looked at all the people with a grin before taking a drink. Well they certainly knew how to throw a party.

"Rose Tyler, look at you!" the Doctor declared, grinning broadly at her as he held his arms out wide and made his way over to her.

It felt like it had been forever since he'd seen her. Really, just a short while, but when it was Rose it felt like such a long time to him.

"You look absolutely gorgeous. Even more than usual!"

Upon see him, she set her drink down and smiled even more meeting him half way.

She had to keep reminding herself that this was really happening and she had actually found him like she had set out to do. Without counting this strange place it had been years since she had last laid her eyes on him.

“Doctor,” she stated, really looking at him and smiling before instinct took over and she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. It was really him. She pulled back to look at him unable to wipe the smile from her lips. “And look at you. As handsome as ever. Don’t think I’ve seen you in that outfit in-“ Well, she couldn’t really remember. “Ages,” she finished. “You look good,” she complimented again.

"Wellll, sort of had to dig it out for the special occasion," he told her, scratching his head a bit in thought as he tried to remember the last time he wore it.

"But you look gorgeous," he continued. "Did I already tell you that? I did tell you that, didn't I? Well it's true. And everything feels more right now that you're here. City's not the same without you. Well, nowhere is the same without you, really."
