Dear lord, did the holidays totally just creep up on anyone else? I swear it was Thanksgiving not too long ago.

Anyways, sorry I've been MIA, teaching has been kicking my butt (I think I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 300ish essays to grade and 180 smaller papers...yeesh. Did I mention long term subs get only a pittance for grading? And ( Read more... )

I hope I get the grading done, too (my expression when looking at my pile of papers and your icon are pretty similar).

And caroling was AWESOME. We had impromptu harmony (very little thanks to me, I had a cold!) and went to lots of places. :)

ALSO, SINCE WHEN IS CA LIKE IRELAND. IT HAS RAINED 5 DAYS STRAIGHT HERE!

The holidays spooked the hell out of me... Whoa, where did YOU come from?

Adore your selection of viewing material - you have some lucky students.

Happy holidays!

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened this year. Usually they tend to drag on, this year they've whacked me upside the head.

Yeah, the teacher I'm in for right now told me not to show traditional holiday movies...so I showed the Titanic. In space. And they're a bunch of Potter-philes, so they kept shouting Barty Crouch! at the screen.

Also, for the record, if you show "Midnight" to 9th graders (I did it in conjunction with Lord of the Flies), some of them will be creeped out for a while...*totally not an evil teacher...really...*

So did the kids appreciate Voyage of the Damned? That's just awesome.

Personally, Eat, Pray, Love is a book I am refusing to touch with a ten foot pole.

Happy Holidays!

I take it nothing is happening on the writing front?

They totally enjoyed it if they watched it (it almost made one of the kids who had to go play in the marching band for the assembly late. :)

I refused to pay good money for Eat, Pray, Love, but I found a slightly damaged copy for 50 cents at a local used book sale and this seemed like a good price to pay for it. I studied the memoir genre in college, so occasionally I look over what is popular. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and, in a certain sense, I admire the author as a person, but only slightly.

And, as to the writing front, I may get something up over these two weeks, but I don't know if this will indeed happen or not. We'll see.

AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU, TOO!

To bad they didn't have more subs like you when I was in high school...ugh...now I feel old.

Very nice in almost making someone late for an assembly.

Battle Royale? (I haven't read it yet -- it's on my list --, but figured it might be worth a guess.)

The holidays haven't exactly crept up on me, it's just that I didn't have any money to shop with until the day after a stack of eighty-odd final essays got landed on me and I didn't get them finished till Sunday night and the grade cards filled out yesterday. (I am also entirely too generous with my time spent commenting.) And now the Belfield campus is closed down because of the snow, and I probably won't be able to claim for my work until the New Year. But, hey. I'm in a warm house, I got the essential Christmas present shopping done this morning, and the only travel I'll need to do now is a trek to the grocery store for a few bits for Christmas Eve dinner. And I'm getting an eBook reader for Christmas. :D

Oh. And Ireland is like . . . um . . . Moscow or something. Except Muscovites know how to handle snow. Beloved will probably be staying home from work tomorrow because the county council ran out of salt today and it's still snowing hard.
