On Dasher on Dasher on Dasher...!
Dear lord, did the holidays totally just creep up on anyone else? I swear it was Thanksgiving not too long ago.
Anyways, sorry I've been MIA, teaching has been kicking my butt (I think I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 300ish essays to grade and 180 smaller papers...yeesh. Did I mention long term subs get only a pittance for grading? And that I am an anal retentive grader who gives lots and lots of feedback...?). Also, assorted family things have kept me from actually getting things accomplished.
(It took several acts of Congress to even get Christmas lists this year...really family...? I just want to get you what you want, work with me!) In all, I'm really not certain what happened with this year or the balance of the months of November and December. Usually I am more organized than this.
Strike that, usually I am organized.
That said, I've finally had time to actually read. I killed off Eat, Pray, Love and it was, as expected, interesting in a self-absorbed weirdly spiritual way with occasional jarring metaphors thrown onto the apple cart. Also, the movie really did suck in comparison. Also, I read the first book of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games which kept reminding me of the bastard child of Lord of the Flies, Final Fantasy VII, and something I haven't put my finger on yet. But I want the next two books. :)
Also, geek moment of the year: I made my classes watch part of DW's "Voyage of the Damned" on the day before vacation (which is a double assembly early day...so we had 31 minutes in each class). But I got to watch it on the big ol' screen with the surround sound and it was a tad bit awesome.
