you'd be right though with the psycho feminist thing.
it's not a very deep movie, no. I admit I like it because of the bitching boys and the self-inflicted man pain. it's a slightly more intelligent teenage movie, but it's a teenage movie.
It sometimes hurt to look at it. All the women are sluts except for the psychos and the heartless bitches that won't date you if you're an asshole. But you can go slay a dragon and maybe she might add you on facebook. *cringes*
Yes, the bitching is nice at times. I really liked the scene with Eduardo being all wet and tired and angry. Sadly, that potential just kind of sizzled out. I see where the fanfics come from, though.
I was really disappointed, too, after watching the movie. Mark's character was semi-intresting, but everything else was too long for what had happened in this time. One could have done the same in thirty minutes.
Idk I hate Facebook, but I liked the movie! I have a weakness for characters that are driven but also insufferable, who are brilliant but needlessly flaunt it, so I liked Mark, haha. I also quite got into that central theme of wanting to fit in and be admired and popular, but not able to accomplish it. Of course it's also a movie about lol firstworldproblems and incredibly rich dudes moping, but I was fine with it. Millionaires have feelings too! XD
As for the women, I thought the men came across way worse, really. I mean, it's a well-known fact that nerdy guys think they're entitled to bang only supermodels, and that point came across fairly well (it was less "all women are sluts" and more "these guys REALLY want to hang out with sluts" to me. The only negative portayal of a woman was Eduardo's psycho girlfriend, imo, but then you could say he was only with her because she would have sex with him in a bathroom stall.
Eduardo had feelings, these incredibly homoerotic twins had feelings. Mark? Not so much. He wants to be admired, yes, friends and fitting in? I really don't see that. And he's not able to accomplish it, because he's aggravatingly stupid about everything outside of computers. I think I hate him and I'm not sure why, but it's not the flaunting, it's not even the antisocial behaviour. I try to find the thing that really irks me about him and I just hate him more, but no, I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it is the total lack of development idk.
You may be right, though I'm not convinced. Whatever, movies are full of random sluts, it's really not worth talking about. It's just that in addition to all the insane females they had that terrible win-her-back storyline pathetically crying in the background and I don't know if there's anything I hate more than the completely issue-unrelated attemps at getting the woman back.
Eduardo was arguably the most sympathetic character. Maybe the only sympathetic character. I couldn't feel bad for the twins, I'm not even sure why, I didn't hate them or anything. Mark was a genuine asshole, but there was something pathetic about him, and I'm just kinda drawn to characters that are pathetic, I guess. The actor also played him as if he had some serious neurological affliction that prevented him from feeling feelings or something.
I agree that the win-her-back storyline was lame, but it gave me that last image of him pathetically sitting there and hitting "refresh" on Facebook a 100 times, which I thought was apt.
