my husband was in a wreck this morning. I could be all happy that he is ok, but he totalled the car! which means 1) we have no car big enough to fit everyone into, and 2) we have to get 3 new car seats. well, we have one spare, I guess we only need to get 2. by, oh, tomorrow. and since chris, who has our debit card with him, won't be home until 9 ( Read more... )

oh, insurance will pay, I'm sure of it. I was mainly worried about this weekend, but things are coming together :) (see another reply I made below)

Yikes, that is a last minute fiasco, indeed.

I think this is where you rely on the kindness of friends and fellow church-goers. I would see if anyone trustworthy can help you out and shuttle you and/or your kids. Or if nothing else, drive you to a store where you can buy more car seats and maybe rent a car for the day? Too bad you're not within walking distance of the church you attend :( What about public transportation? This pops into my mind, but I don't know whether they accomodate children safely.

I am sure, tho, that if you asked, there would be plenty of offers to help you to Easter Vigil or Easter Sunday mass(es).

getting to mass and party won't be an issue, there's my parents and sister to help with that. the car seats would be the issue except my sister has a spare to lend me, and is borrowing one from someone else, so with my spare that's 3 :) at least we're covered for this weekend! we'll worry about anything else on monday.

Yipes! Was the accident his fault? If it wasn't, the other person's insurance owes you for the car seats and the car, and they owe you a rental for at least a few days. If he wasn't at fault and that person actually seems to have insurance, you could buy the seats and save your receipts and expect to be reimbursed. Same goes if Chris was at fault and you have full coverage insurance; you would be paid for the value of the car and the new car seats, and your deductible would just be taken out of that amount.

there was no other driver. it was basically chris, an icy road, and a concrete wall. :/

I expect insurance will pay something... but certainly not by tomorrow, which, well, I've already got that covered :) (see my response above.)

I'm glad that Chris isn't hurt and you worked out the situation for tomorrow. Happy Easter:)
