On the H/C bingo we have the option to select up to three prompts that squick us and have them not included in our card. Does the same principle apply here?
Question: Different FandomsingridmatthewsJune 17 2010, 17:09:25 UTC
In the 'writing in more than one fandom', can I have different fandoms within the same bingo line, as long as they follow the prompts given, one fandom per prompt?
Not unless it is a triggering issue, as per the updated FAQs. We don't want anyone genuinely upset by their card, but we're also not willing to strike things from the card because people don't like them. This is supposed to be a challenge, and part of that is writing what the randomizer gives you, even if it's not something you usually write or care for.
However, we do encourage you to remember that you can be creative. You don't have to write the kids/babies/pregnancy as the main pairing's/main characters. It can be a chance encounter, something they're watching from a distance, a memory, something that they see that gets them thinking, a movie, a song, etc. The possibilities are endless.
We're excited to see the creative ways that people come up to deal with these prompts, because the first thing that comes to mind is not what it has to be.
As someone who has no desire to have children of my own, I completely understand people who don't find children interesting. However, there are also a lot of people who do, and babies and small children are often associated with schmoop, which was the criteria for making it onto the list of prompts
( ... )
I apologize for the bother, but I'm also wanting to ask about the possibility of requesting a card without pregnancy/babies/kidfic prompts? Personally, pregnancy of any sort is a squick issue for me, and the others are things I just couldn't write about at all. There's enough of those sorts of prompts it'd be just my luck to end up with a card full of them and not be able to complete a bingo. Thanks for your time--I love the idea of this so much and would love to be able to participate.

Remember, you don't have to write a full card, just one bingo, and then you can request a new one if you so desire.
