And I thought there were a lot of pictures on Tuesday...

Day 4 -- Thursday, May 21st

Today was the day we walked the most -- almost 19 miles in all!  My feet were absolutely KILLING me by the end of the day, but it was so worth it.

I have to split this one up into two posts, because there so many freaking pictures!

We started out by taking the subway up to the Upper West Side.

i just have to say that I LOVE the subway system in New York.  It's so efficient and just wonderful.  It's cheap and you can get just about anywhere.  And I only saw one rat down there (like on the tracks) during the entire NYC trip. :)

So we made it to the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

This is The Plaza, which overlooks Central Park (this is the hotel where Kevin stays in Home Alone 2).

This is Grand Army Plaza.

Would you like to take a carriage ride around Central Park?

This is probably my absolute favorite picture of the entire trip! It looks like a painting.

This is a reason why I love Central Park. You're in all this beautiful natural scenery, but surrounded by such an urban landscape.

this is The Plaza again, as we're walking over the bridge from my favorite picture.

After walking around for a little bit, we went on a mission to find the Balto statue.  There our maps within the Park, telling you were all the landmarks are, so it wasn't too hard to find.

When we got to the statue, there were two women with a camera and tripod sitting on a bench.  They asked if we knew the story of the statue and if we would mind telling the story on camera for a local New York TV station.  I knew the story, but I didn't want to be on camera, so I told Anthony to go ahead.

He had to sign a release so his footage could be used.

The plaque at the base of the statue reads, "Dedicated to the indomitable spirit of the sled dogs that relayed antitoxin six hundred miles over rough ice across treacherous waters through arctic blizzards from Nenana to the relief of stricken Nome in Winter 1925. Endurance Fidelity Intelligence"

After Balto, we made our way to my favorite part of the park, Bethesda Terrace.

Just south of the Terrace is the Bandshell, where tons of famous people have played.

There was a guy playing the cello under here.

This is Bethesda Fountain with the Angel of the Water statue.

It was super hot out, so we rested  with our feet in the fountain.

The Park is full of statues and pieces of art.

This is The Falconer

This is the memorial for John Lennon.

This is The Dakota.  John Lennon was murdered as he left here on December 9th, 1980.  It's right across the street from Strawberry Fields.

After Strawberry Fields, we walked through more of the park.

This is Turtle Pond, with the Great Lawn in the background.

This is Belvedere Castle, which is now part of the US Weather Bureau

The area across the pond is the Great Lawn, where they film the Good Morning America Summer Concert series.

The Alice in Wonderland statue! Totally wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for the BSC. :D

Like most of these sorts of statues in the Park, you can climb all over them. :)

This reminds me of Stuart Little.

After Central Park, we decided to take the bus down to 5th Ave.  Okay, well, I wanted to, because all the fancy stores are on 5th Ave.

This is Trump Tower

Louis Vuitton

This is THE Tiffany's, the one in Breakfast at Tiffany's starring the lovely Miss Audrey. :)

We walked by The Plaza again.

Friends fans will recognize that black building with the X's as the building where Chandler works. :)
