It's my favorite manga and has been so for about 6 years so I totally approve of this post and I agree with all of your reasons. It would be awesome if you got more people to read the manga.
You must be more persuasive (less annoying )than me. I tried to get my RL friends to read FMA for years it never worked. I did get one of them to watch Avatar but FMA they never would try. I think the fact that it was a comic & from Japan turned them off. :)
Well, my friend Xixi is already a huge anime/manga dork so it wasn't too hard. She'd seen the original anime way back when, and she thought the ending was stupid, so I convinced her to read the manga, and she LOVED it!
The awesomeness of the pacing was the first thing I commented on after read like 53 chapters, because how much I was able to invest and that I was able to specifically point to the pacing as something awesome. (It may also have been because my last major anime/manga endeavor was horrible in its pacing so FMA was a breath of fresh air.
Also apparently some people take issues with Arakawa's humor and the fact that she isn't all dark and depressed and serious all the time but I like it because I think trying to find a little humor even in the darkest of times is important.
Man if it was just dark and depressing all the time that would be no fun to read! The humorous moments is what really made me fall in love with the characters. :)
I actually watched some of the first few episodes of the anime a year or so ago. I'm really considering reading the manga, now, though. Sounds like a very awesome story! ^^
