I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday!  2009 promises to be a wonderful year!  I know I plan to make the most of it.  I hope all of you do, too!

To get things off to a fun yet informative start, I've decided I'm going to create a poll!

Poll Looking AheadI'm going to leave the poll open until next Monday.  Everyone, please take a few seconds to fill out the poll ( Read more... )

Hoping to get more involved this year ... a New Year's resolution that will last past January. I want to write 1500 words a day. Thanks for all your hard work with this comm.

I hope you'll get more involved, too! I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you do :)

1500 words a day seems like such an easy goal to attain but my experiences with NaNoWriMo have shown just how tough it can be! Life has a nasty habit of rearing its ugly head. If there's anything I can do to encourage you along in your goal, please let me know!

Yes ... 1500 words is steep, isn't it! I was using NaNo as my guage too.

Thanks for your offer of help. It is much appreciated. Participating in this comm is my first step though! I also subscribed to InkTip on your recommendation ... so thanks for the heads up about them. It is excellent for getting a feel for what is in demand, isn't it?

I was trying to think of way to get more people involved. The character discussions are a total failure... but what if we try a discussion about the script and where it's going. Or do a poll or something to see if anyone would want anything changed before we get too far in... or if they need anything explained.

Anything that might make it easier for them to write it... because I'm not sure if I particularly want to be the only one writing here.

Maybe there'd be some people who'd like to re-adjust some scenes around so that they're more interesting to write.

Something that makes it a little more interactive... not just them doing, like, writing excersizes, but them helping to form the story?

I know you put in a lot of effort for the scene cards, but maybe the way it ended up is turning some people away... I don't know.

lols. I'd kinda like to know what happened to all the people that voted for this premise.

I've been giving it a lot of thought as well. I know there are people who are interested in participating in the Feature Length Screenplay competition but were unable to due to real life issues. Now, those issues are resolving themselves and they want to compete. Also, it's not just the Feature Length Screenplay and things associated with it that aren't getting involvement. The Short Script Challenges, 60 Scenes Exercises, and (to a lesser extent) the Community Dialogue don't get much, if any, comments. Considering how much freedom people have to form stories in the Short Script Challenges and the 60 Scenes Exercises, I don't think the lack of participation can be attributed to people wanting more interaction ( ... )

After I replied to you, I got to thinking about posting to free screenwriting contest websites and I have to say that I have to agree with you. While the competition might be tougher, in the end it will only make everyone into better screenwriters. You learn much more when you're challenged than when you're not.

I would happily keep anyone posted on the behind-the-scenes production of any screenplays I produce. They would definitely have as much of a say as possible in the project. Being a screenwriter myself, I know how hard it is to let your baby go into the hands of another.

I'll send you a private message about the LJ invitation thing :)

Thanks for being so gosh-darn awesome! *huggles*
