Misc. v. 4.0

I had planned a soapbox rant, but geez, with all the crap that's been happening in US politics, I just don't feel like adding to the rant and rave atmosphere that's percolating out there ~waves hand around vaguely~ at the moment. Soooo, the rant has been tabled for the moment, and instead I'll offer snippets of what I've been up to lately ( Read more... )

Oh, poor Cody. :-( I hope the assistant who butchered him has been tossed out and never works on animals again. And that the vet vets his assistants more closely from hereon out.

I was just thinking about the digest. I'm not going to volunteer as I'm a slow reader and, well, not exactly the most reliable person in the world atm. But good luck filling the post!

I hope they tossed them out on their ear, too, but I honestly doubt it. I understand that it's difficult enough to get volunteers to help, so I suspect that this won't be enough to get them sacked. :(

Thanks! We can always use all the luck we can get. ~grin~

The poor puppy. I have to ask, even though the answer might break my heart, but is he in any pain because of the scar tissue, or is he doing okay other than the slow to pee thing? Or is it still to early to tell if he'll be in pain?

As to the digest, I really wish I could volunteer to help because I know I'll have free time coming out the... well, lots of free time after a few weeks, but right now I'm in the middle of a move and my internet is spotty at best. If you still need a volunteer after things have settled, I might be able to help out.

He's not in pain, but it does take him a long time to pee. Basically, it's just a drip rather than a flow. The problem is two-fold, really. First, he's not completely emptying his bladder, which makes him terribly susceptible to infections, and second, we're not certain if the scar tissue will continue to grow. We had to take him back to the vet recently because he was running a high fever. That's when she put him on the steroids and antibiotics; he'll finish those on Friday. Then, it's just a wait-and-see situation. :(

Ah, so far, I've had no takers at all. If you're still interested when things settle down for you, please contact me. I have a feeling that the position will still be open. ~sighs~

Did the clinic responsible for the initial operation admit fault and apologize? Did they at least take responsibility for the huge vet bill you mentioned last time?

The clinic has never admitted anything or apologized for anything. However, they also remained silent when informed by our vet that they would be paying all the associated bills, so I suspect that's as close to an admission of culpability that we're ever going to get from them.

*hugs you and the puppy tightly* My god, that poor little thing! I would be devastated. I would also consider physical violence against the monster who did that to him. Can he be catheterized to give his urethra time to heal?

Good luck with writing amidst all the madness, dear one!

He spent quite a bit of time catherized, and his urethra has healed, but scar tissue has formed which is partially blocking it. We're just waiting to see if the scar tissue continues to grow. We're hoping not, but we can't tell yet. ~crosses fingers~ And oh, we've been furious over this situation. It's really a miracle that he lived through the initial surgery.

Thanks! I'm just happy to have finally settled on a direction to take the story. ;)

Poor Cody! Hopefully, he can get by with it. You never know, if he hangs in for a few years, they may have technology to fix it right.

I hope so! He's really such a lovable little guy, and I hate that he's been through this!

Fingers cross for poor Cody.

Hee! "Missing in action" is probably more apt than "mysterious", but yours sounds much better. LOL

Thank you! I appreciate it, and we have our fingers crossed, too.
