I had planned a soapbox rant, but geez, with all the crap that's been happening in US politics, I just don't feel like adding to the rant and rave atmosphere that's percolating out there ~waves hand around vaguely~ at the moment. Soooo, the rant has been tabled for the moment, and instead I'll offer snippets of what I've been up to lately:
● The
hgss_digest is looking for an elfin helper to post every Thursday. We need someone who is reliable, who actively reads HG/SS, is familiar enough with the fic in our corner of the fandom to recognize when someone is attempting a new twist on an old cliche, and who doesn't mind wading through fanfiction.net and adultfanfiction.net looking for interesting fic or promising new authors. Aside from keeping an eye out for new fic and art, it takes about one hour to compile the average digest post, so there is something of a time commitment involved. If you're interested, please email me at scatteredlogic (at) gmail.com. If you're not interested yourself, but you know someone who is and they're not on my flist, please point them my way.
● Cody the puppy (see
here for first part of the back story) is doing okay for the time being. He's still on steroids and antibiotics, since we had to take him back to the vet after I'd posted because he became ill. There's scar tissue building up in his urethra, which may or may not be something he live with since it's narrowing his urethra significantly. We'll know more after Friday when his meds run out. At best, he'll probably always be slow to pee. At worst, he'll have to be put down because of an inability to urinate.
● I'm adjusting to my trifocals, but I spent the first few days trying not to fall down since suddenly have three different fields of vision in one pair of glasses takes a little getting used to. It's becoming easier, but damn, I felt like I was drunk for the first three days. ;)
● There's a name game meme going around, but I don't think I'll participate. I suspect the temptation to label me as "She Who Rarely Posts" or "She Who is Vaguely Familiar" might be too much for some of you. ;P
● I had an epiphany last night about my
sshg_exchange fic. I realized I was attempting too many tones within that one story, resulting only in an awkward mish mash. It can either be humorous or serious, but within the specific framework that I've chosen, it can't really be both, so I need to commit to one or the other. After reading over what I've already written, it became clear which one I had to select, so now I need to settle down and get it finished.
