After a successful date on Friday (yey! Even though I thought for a moment or 12 that I was getting stood up :P Still, date!), I managed to squeeze in some more reading time (shock and awe):

Yes! They rock, don't they? And the more I read other stuff, the more I catch all of the various references in the series (for instance, I never would have understood the Triffids in the bar scene of this one had I not recently read Day of the Triffids)

Have you tried his other series? The Nursery Crime one? I think it starts with the Big Over Easy - I haven't gotten a chance to pick it up yet.

Yeah I'm sure I missed a number of references, having not read many of 'the classics', but I understood more than enough to enjoy the series. Maybe someday with i'm smarter I'll give them another look :)

Have you seen Fforde's web site? He does a lot of cool stuff as extras for the books, almost like DVD style. Deleted chapters, alternate sections, etc.

Big Over Easy left me very underwhelmed. Here's a review I wrote on it:

The next in the series is out in August, and I'm still willing to give it a try, but I wish he'd get back to Thursday's world :)
