After a successful date on Friday (yey! Even though I thought for a moment or 12 that I was getting stood up :P Still, date!), I managed to squeeze in some more reading time (shock and awe):
The Well of Lost Plots - Jasper FfordeIf you haven't read any of Fforde's Thursday Next series, please pick up a copy. Any copy of any book. They're all fantastic. A twist of sci-fi literature, Thursday Next is a detective sometime in England, dutifully protecting the literary world from people bound and determined to change the endings of books and other assorted literary travesties. She's tutored in her duties by the famous Miss Havisham, and each book is filled with literary tidbits, nuggets, and humor. Highly recommended reading.
The Amber Room - Steve BerryAhhh, the almost mostly fake historical thriller. Thank you, Dan Brown, for making these novels sexy. Berry takes on the mystery of the Amber Room, lost following WWII. Stretching between warcamp memories, grandpas and top-notch lawyers of today, the story is mostly fluff. But it's enjoyable fluff.
