title: Autumn in New York with: Mac/Danny rated: NC-17 herein: Mac remembers the rhythm of this, even though there’s an empty space between now and then. disclaim: I only own the dvds; everything belongs to Zuiker, CBS, et al.
I love how subtly this is a 9/11 fic, and the overall somber tone. Once I realized that it *was* about 9/11, I went back and re-read it, and that knowledge creates a whole other, deeper layer for what happens between Mac and Danny here. There's a somber tone to all of this, and there's also a feeling of inevitability about it all

This is heartbreaking, but strangely beautiful. It's stark but so detailed at the same time, and fills me with an ache that feels so good and bad at the same time. It stirs up all of these conflicting emotions, but makes you feel, and makes you empathize with them. Thanks so much for sharing.
This was haunting and poignant--and yes, subtle, though I felt an undercurrent of something very powerful. Good stuff. I can easily see Mac being hung up on Danny, but too smart to allow himself to hope. Or perhaps, he simply knows better.
