Oh, C.

Just perfect. I love Sheldon, he's just so. He's the most unexplained character in the show, really. Everyone else, to me, can be a bit predictable, but Hawkes is still a mystery to me.

You wrote this beautifully, and I can't decide if I want more, or if it's perfect how it is.

Thank you. Hawkes really is intriguing in his sly, understated, steady way. He has... a lot of understated privacy about him, without his character being underwritten.

I haven't written very much of it, but I'm very fond of this idea, that Stella and Hawkes would get together after both having been with Mac. It seems like the sad natural continuation post-S2, when I was so bouncy happy about Mac and Hawkes being adorkable boyfriends.

Thanks. I think that Hawkes has an amazing sense of privacy that cloaked by his personableness. I imagine this as the sad, inevitable continuation of my happy Mac-and-Hawkes-are-such-boyfriends glee of S2. Stella and Hawkes have a deep friendship in their own right though, and I could see them being good and fun together, especially if they didnt' have the baggage to deal with.

Oh, oh, this! This hurts in all the best ways. It hurts, but there's a peace here even so, a sense that there's something real and honest between the two of them, something that comes across as very tender and caring. But at the same time, and *without* taking away from that tenderness or care (which is why I think it works so well), there's also this distance between them, and this specter of Mac that's always there, and that they can't talk about or escape from.

And there's all that sense of the spaces between people, and the unaswerable what-ifs, and...and you're making me make flaily hands. I love it. I love how they talk to each other.

Thank you. That's something I wanted to make clear--that Hawkes and Stella could and do have something good and real between them that's separate from the baggage they carry, even though, yes, the specter of Mac is always going to be there.

And I think one of the nicest things about Stella and Hawkes is that they *can* talk to each other a little bit moreso than other pairings.

I also love this pairing (I honestly could see Sheldon paired with anyone in the cast and they'd each be lucky to have him). Thank you for continuing this series--I like seeing the development of this pair and I like watching the comfortable relationship, the lingering tension, as well as the strong attraction between these two. Great story!

Thanks. I can also see Sheldon paired with literally anyone, and as much as I like multiple, often contradictory pairings, it's still fairly rare that I can say that. I think the dynamic between him and Stella, with or without the baggage, is subtle and good, and once I can get a story to work, they're really a pleasure to write.

They're a great pleasure to read as well! ;)

I hadn't thought of that pairing (though Stella deserves much sex with gorgeous men). Works beautifully.
