Exercise: A friend of mine who is a dedicated runner says that she runs in the rain because she has to run, and that rain shouldn't stop me from getting out to run, either. We won't, after all, melt. I don't feel agoraphobic when I don't leave the house after x days, but I do realize "Oh, no wonder I felt crappy! I haven't left the house in x days!!"

Hoping this doesn't come across as preachy...not the intent. But I would recommend that if you have any doubts about getting another cat to hold off. A pet is a big responsibility, and you should enter into it whole-heartedly.

(And yeah, you definitely would want to be around for the kitteh integration process!)

I've had cats my whole adult life--as many as three at once, though currently only one--so I know wherefrom you speak about pets being a big responsibility; have no fear. I understand your intention is good, but I don't need to be told, really. I have no intention of entering into the process lightly, which is why I haven't done it yet, and--if I do--not until the new year. Slowly and with deliberate thought is my plan, when the time is right and not before.
