Quite some time ago, to my delight, I discovered that Zazzle.com offered custom postage. The last couple of years, I've made a point to poke around the site at holiday time to look at designs and to see if anything tickled me enough to make a purchase. That is, in fact, Sophie with a dreidel, but she picked it up to play with herself. I just grabbed the camera and took advantage of the opportunity. And you see? No reindeer antlers on her! :-)

I suspect it is the look on the pet's face that people are going for. I confess to occasionally putting something small and light on my cat Jasper just to see his annoyed look. It never lasts more than a second though.

I am also not comfortable with dragging pets to get pictures with Santa. I know Seattle Animal Shelter makes some money off of it, but it seems like unnecessary stress. I'm kind of glad they were unable to do it this year.

Mocha was just plain snoopy about the Santa hat, which is why it ended up on her head. But it was just a lightly placed hat, nothing more, and relatively minor compared to her working clothes (though, being a Working Horse in her opinion, working clothes are one thing, frivolity another. She's very serious about Work).

And work is to be taken seriously. I suspect that working horses and working dogs understand the distinction.

Oh definitely so. I've more experience with the horses than I do with the dogs, but the horses I've known who are all about Work definitely know the difference. It took a while for Mocha to adjust to the anarchy of bareback riding, for example.
