Honestly, they're ignoring it. Merlin has fought a losing battle this morning trying to settle into my lap to sleep. (He's losing it because I keep insisting on moving.) He's now drowsily lounging on his new favorite pillow. And Spanky's been asleep in my bedroom for hours. So jaded.

I'm really torn about seeing this display.

The main reason why Seattle got it was that all the majors turned it down, since almost all the anthropologists including the Leakeys felt Lucy was too fragile to be moved around -- the risk of damage to her was too great.

The Ethiopian calligraphy does sound cool and of course I always love something so fundamental to our understanding of our place in the universe as Lucy is.

I understand your hesitation. At the same time, it's here. Not going won't stop its presence. I thought it was a wonderful opportunity and I didn't want to miss it. There are so many other things in this exhibit that are worth seeing. I hope you decide to go.
