Zeke, at least, is curious about the weather. He insisted (with much meowing and scratching at the glass) that I crack the balcony door just enough so he can see and smell all the curious sights and sounds. Now he's crouched upon the threshold, looking around with great suspicion at the movement of every leaf and branch and dripping eave. The world is a fascinating place!

Then there was playing in the flooded ditches wearing tall rain boots and rain gear.
I still like a good windstorm but I prefer mine in Enterprise where the power company has upgraded poles and such to stand better in storms and the house is tucked into the hillside like a purple hobbit hole. And there aren't that many trees.

Rain is steady out here, wind gusts occasional but impressive, and the sky is an odd clear grey that's actually quite soothing. All that may change in an instant, of course. Did you hear there was a tornado warning down south earlier this morning?
Cancelling plans tonight would be a wise thing, methinks. Once it gets dark, the risks increase.
I have candles, matches, and fully-charged batteries for the flashlight, which is already in place by my desk, all the electronics are at full charge, and I have chicken salad, PB&J, and protein bars to eat, as well as a gallon of water set aside. Which means, of course, that we're not going to lose power. Magic preparedness, I has it. :-)

Those "big, cathartic thunder-and-lightning storms" are among my favorite things here in the midwest, and the several times we have tried (and failed) to move to your neck of the woods, the storms are among the things I figured I'd most miss.
