So, it was quite the storm today: major winds and rain, just as predicted. Many folks I know lost power and still haven't gotten it back yet. My power flickered a couple of times but it remained on. Glad I didn't have to deal with an outage

Not exactly the same thing, but M was incredibly unhappy with his work, causing him stress and actual physical ailments, thus causing me great sadness for him, because I know how talented he is. After months of this he finally quit (this is his last week there). Quit without a new job. He put out his resume and immediately got four responses, one of them a "sure thing" if he wants it (he hasn't decided yet). He's already happier, although at the minute we don't have much of a cash flow. (And, like you, we have become accustomed to some things, not to mention three dogs which are all on somewhat expensive meds.) After seeing this, and hearing from M how some other coworkers of his also immediately found new work, I'm wondering if the entire market is in good shape and your future, too, could be rosy...whether at Facebook or somewhere else. Much as I would love to have you in the neighborhood, it sounds like the FB job might not be the right one for you... Unless they come up with something truly spectacular at the interview.

Like Mad, I'd love having you close by, but this move is not sounding any trumpets for you. I know what you mean about financial security, too, and being used to having comforts like being able to dine out now and then etc.

I feel you SO MUCH. You're in a position of strength to negotiate with FB, because you're willing to walk away, so speaking with them can only be positive as either practice or actually leading to going there. Good luck. :: hugs ::
