Renovation: Step Two--the microwave

The microwave is too big. It hasn't arrived yet, and won't for another three-and-a-half weeks, but this morning I checked out its measurements online and realized that it's too tall for the space in which it's intended to go. I did not have a microwave before moving here - I use it for heating tea and de-frosting stuff from the freezer or fridge, but that's it.

I have been microwave free since the divorce and, other than sometimes when heating leftovers, I have not missed it.

I never use the microwave to heat water. ::shudders:: Water never heats evenly in it, and some of my favorite mugs aren't even microwave-safe. We use the microwave a lot for heating up leftovers, occasionally for frozen foods or precooking vegetables. It's also good for melting butter or heating up milk for a latte. I use it for one thing or another almost every day, but I'm pretty sure I could survive without it if I had to ( ... )

I have a microwave and use it, mostly for heating the morning oatmeal. I don't think you need one, from what you say. It's really not worth the trouble to redo your kitchen. Really.

No microwave here either. Never miss it. People have asked "how do you reheat food?" Really? I use this thing called a stove.
Dishwashers are rather nice though if you cook for more than one or for scrubbing cat bowls. But no hurry there.
Hope your new fridge is great. Someday I want one that makes ice.
