Fabric inspiration

Last night eestep had the most amazing swatch of wool gauze from Fashion Fabrics Club (this). I am very very tempted to pick up some for a bliaut. Just to see what it would be like out of a supper fine wool. I'm not sure it's an accurate reproduction of a period fine wool - as the texture is rather crepe-like - but how often does one find see-though wool ( Read more... )

10 gores. At least, I think that's the maximum I might use, so I ought to buy enough for the maximum - which is probably only 7 yards. But then I need to factor in train. Don't know how long to do that... I rather like the lenght of your green bliaut's train... though most of the pictures aren't much more then a couple inches on the ground. But one of the text refferences Lyonette found is a fellow complaining about the lenght of his wife's train - seems it was getting in the way of exercising his maritial rights ;-)
