Writing

+500 words on a short story I left hanging a while ago. I think I'll probably have to cut all of what I added -- a too-long conversation between two characters -- but at least it got me thinking about the right direction.

That's pretty cool you had that spontenous balloon experience. I've had to find it, and I know it isn't quite the same -- for me, it required concentration, and doesn't have as much power. I think your teacher was thinking of what you were feeling.

The punch I threw with it didn't feel very powerful. I think it will take a LOT of training to use. But it seems like you could use it to add a little bit of "grease" to a normal punch.

One thing I noticed with this is that the power generated from this kind of stuff can really mess with what you think of as powerful. There were small moments when I was able to use this, but didn't think or feel anything happened simply because there was very little tension. Only way to really test it is doing push hands, or maybe messing with a punching bag.

Something very similar to the balloon stuff is when... not only does it feel like it is supporting the whole body, but when you strike, it feels like your awareness extends into the area you are punching.

I'll try that. It was extremely interesting, to say the least. I did a little of that qigong today but laid off of class because I had a sore throat again. I definitely want to learn how to use it.
