[Many moons had passed since Leysa said goodbye to Grandfather and ventured into the world. Through a strong will and a cunning mind, she had overcome great adversaries and crossed strange and terrifying lands. With her precious bundle weighing heavily on her back, Leysa fearlessly faced her next trial. Perhaps, she thought, this would be the place ( Read more... )

[Oh great. A cubone. Nyx was just about to float away and ignore the stupid thing, just in case it started wailing. But then...
She had to open her mouth. As soon as Leysa had gotten out that first line, Nyx completely forgot about her train of thought, and approached her. Is it panic time? I think so.]

Hey! hey, hold up, what was that first thing you said?

[This is a human unlike any Leysa has encountered before. But though she may be a human, Leysa cannot ignore an anxious heart. She unshoulders her bundle and unties it, revealing a smashed pile of stone that may have once been a gravestone.]

Lavender Tower has fallen. Destroyed in the name of progress. Greed took my mother as flesh and bone, and greed took my mother as stone. Where once we lived, had lived, were quiet... a radio tower is being built.

[This talk is kind of confusing, but she definitely understood one thing.]

They destroyed the tower?! They can't do that! What about all the graves there?! What happened to- what- [She stops, and tries to calm down.]
...You know what happened to the other graves?

[Leysa falls silent for a moment. Then, head bowed, she speaks.]

I could only save what remains of stone-mother. Grandfather's home carries a few memorials, but the others... fell with the tower. Crushed, swept away, gone to dust.

*Knuckles happened to hear the banging on the gates and the singing. He couldn't help but go and see what the noise was in aid of.*

Hey, there - You want in? I can open the gate if you need me to.

Thank you, gatekeeper. Have you come to answer my call?

You're welcome... Leysa, was it?

*Opens the gates.*

And I'm more'n happy to trade either stories or blows with you. Take your pick. I'm just a student here, though - no gate keeper. The name's Knuckles the Echidna.

A student? Then... this is a school?

[Leysa lowers her weapon. If this is a place of learning, not of violence, then to threaten a student would be a grave rudeness.]

We will talk, Knuckles the Echidna. I wish to learn more.

[Arceus is sleeping a small mountain not far away.]

[The eyes beneath her mother's embrace had always been swift and sharp. Although not within this strange building's gates, that while being had captured the attention of Leysa the Strong.

...Hadn't the stories she'd heard said...?

Perhaps this needs investigating. Leysa moves away from the gates, hastening towards the white being. The distance is short, and the nearer she draws, the quicker her pace.

For she has heard many tales of the all-mother, and this being matches them all. A gleaming white creature within a shining wheel, glorious and golden and dark. When she arrives, she cannot even speak. She is both out of breath and speechless with awe.

At long last, she is able to summon a whisper.]

You are the all-mother. You are the one I seek.

[It is a few moments before she speaks, as when Arceus dreams, her slumber is quite deep.

Perhaps by self-conservation, perhaps knowing that Leysa would be there and then knew when she must awaken, Arceus stirs and lifts up her head, looking at the Cubone.

A few Starly that had been using her horns as a rest fly off.]

Greetings, little one.

[Leysa lowers herself to one knee, bowing her head respectfully.]

All-mother. I have come to ask a favour of you.

[Though she isn't able to keep her hands from shaking, she kepts her voice steady and her heart is sure. Leysa removes the bundle from her back, speaking as she does so.]

I had a mother once. Then the greedy ones came. My mother sought to protect me, and split into three parts. Her bones became my sword and shield. Her body became stone. Her soul became a spirit, raging at those who had torn her apart.

[She opens the bundle now, displaying the broken remains of the gravestone.]

One day, the spirit went away. I was told that she was with God now. So I have come to you, God. These are the parts that were left behind. Please, reunite spirit-mother and stone-mother. And... allow me to be with them once more.

[Here was one who would only be moved by a show of will. Some things could not be communicated through words; the worth of a warrior was one of these things. So be it. Leysa the Strong would respond in kind.]

The poisonteeth and the great rock-snake fall before me. The venom-breather and fire-eater quiver at my name. I am Leysa the Strong, and you too will suffer defeat at my hands.

Are you prepared to face me?

[Lash then takes out a laser gun and twirls it.]

Fancy words don't mean anything to me. I've destroyed entire cities and I guess you could say a bunch of people fear my name too. Name's Lash, I'm a Commanding Officer.

You are a bold one, Commanding Officer.

[Leysa squirms underneath the gate, so that she can be face-to-face with her foe. She twirls her club once, then nods.]

You have been warned. Prepare yourself.

[Having given her foe a fair warning, Leysa swings her club.]
