[Many moons had passed since Leysa said goodbye to Grandfather and ventured into the world. Through a strong will and a cunning mind, she had overcome great adversaries and crossed strange and terrifying lands. With her precious bundle weighing heavily on her back, Leysa fearlessly faced her next trial. Perhaps, she thought, this would be the place ( Read more... )

*Knuckles happened to hear the banging on the gates and the singing. He couldn't help but go and see what the noise was in aid of.*

Hey, there - You want in? I can open the gate if you need me to.

Thank you, gatekeeper. Have you come to answer my call?

You're welcome... Leysa, was it?

*Opens the gates.*

And I'm more'n happy to trade either stories or blows with you. Take your pick. I'm just a student here, though - no gate keeper. The name's Knuckles the Echidna.

A student? Then... this is a school?

[Leysa lowers her weapon. If this is a place of learning, not of violence, then to threaten a student would be a grave rudeness.]

We will talk, Knuckles the Echidna. I wish to learn more.

Sure - what do you wanna know? Oh, and yeah, this place is a school. Smash Academy - some of the worlds strongest and most skilled fighters come here to train their skills, or even learn about things that aren't fighting. All kinds of stuff. I kinda figured you were a new student, being you wanted to get in so bad....

Ah, so it's more like a dojo? I will not refuse a fair fight, and I acknowledge that a warrior forever has room to learn. However, it is not a lesson that I seek. I am on a journey for the sake of a loved one.

My needs are simple, Knuckles the Echidna. I seek simply to trade information. I have brought news of Lavender Town's stone tower. In exchange, I wish to ask: what do you know of the all-mother? Where is it that your dead go?

All Mother? Hmm... that's a tough one. I've spoken with at least one of my deceased ancestors before, but that was kinda a special case because her spirit was bound to an extremely powerful artifact. I'm pretty sure there's an afterlife where all my ancestors are, but I don't know much about it. I'm sorry if that's not exactly what you were after...
