So this is Sumabura Gakuen, huh? I've heard quite a lot about it. Some very... interesting things. I've heard there's a great faculty and staff. And that the classes and curriculum are amazing. But most importantly, I heard that...

There were Pokemon here! I wonder what kinds there are. I bet some of them are simply stunning. Of course nothing ( Read more... )

Heh. Conests, really? I think they're just silly. No skill involved at all.

Nice to meet you though, Ruby! Do you have your Pokémon with you?

N-no skill invo--

I'll have you know that I go through rigorous training with my Pokemon to make sure they are groomed to perfection and that their acts are flawless! Contests are much harder than you think. It's takes time and lots of practice to come out on top.

Humph, well, nice to meet you too then. And of course I do. What sort of coordinator would I be if I left my Pokemon at home?

Hehe. There was a limp-wristed Flygon here a while ago, have you met him? He seems like your type of pokémon.

Yeah, okay, there's a lot of grooming, but what's it for? Just a silly ribbon?

If you ask me, real beauty is functional. I didn't get these sexy muscles by eating Pokéblocks!

L-limp-wristed? A Flygon, huh? No, I haven't. But I'll keep that in mind.

I could say the same thing about a gym leader's badge. What's the point in battling and collecting those, huh? I'll tell you. It's all for pride. To show everyone that you're the best, no matter what is thrown against you. Whether you're training for a ribbon or a badge, everyone still aims to be the winner.

Muscles on a Pikachu aren't exactly... sexy.

Oh. You're here too, huh? I should have expected as much.

And contests are NOT stupid! But I wouldn't expect an oaf like you to be able to understand the grace and beauty of a champion contest Pokemon.

I never said I was looking for contests. I said I was looking for contest level Pokemon.

And how do you know? Just because a Pokemon can fight doesn't mean it's not of contest level. Sure, some strong Pokemon are all muscle and no style, but I'm positive there are some here who aren't. Or maybe you forgot about the battle round in Pokemon contests? Either way, I'm going to find one and show you!

Contests?!

*Hoji has never heard of other Pokemon events before apart from league battling, so she doesn't know about Pokemon contests.*

I've heard of Pokemon stuff, but not that!! What are the contests like?

You haven't heard of Pokemon contests?! Oh you poor, poor girl. Here, let me explain.

There are five types of Pokemon contests. Pokemon can either be entered in Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, or Tough contests. Within each type, there are four ranks. The ranks start with Normal for beginnings. Then when you win a ribbon for that rank, you are allowed to enter the next rank up. The other ranks are Super, Hyper, and Master.

A contest consists of two rounds. The first round is the general appeal round, meaning a Pokemon must strut it's stuff and show off it's appearance and moves. The second round is a battle round, where Pokemon and their coordinator partners battle against one another in order to show their power and abilities.

Did you catch all that?

If you like contests... there's a fashion class you might like?

Sorry if I'm ignorant. I don't know much about contests or whatnot.
