got us a battle

Wide awake at 6AM. Unfortunately no one else is. Except my dad, amusingly enough-- eh.

So my big frightening thing is that I may actually get in to see a PCP for the first time in years (my MI has been treated by a great team who are funded through the state, but physical health isn't funded through that program) and I have all these things I ( Read more... )

my mom is hypothyroid so i am always paranoid when i get my annual blood exam about possibly inheriting the problem. you know though... if your thyroid is actually fucked up and not producing enough hormones, on the blood test the TSH levels will show up as HIGH because your thyroid is having to work so hard to try and get enough hormones throughout your system as it possibly can. i didn't realize this either, but just recently i had my annual blood test and my mom and i were discussing it, and she said when she was diagnosed, that's how they found out... that the number was waaaayyy too high. i know it's counter-intuitive to think of it that way... you'd think if you were hyperthyroid the number would be high, but that's not necessarily the case. what all symptoms do you have btw? my mom's were lack of energy, weight gain, completely lost her eyebrows, brittle nails, etc etc etc ( ... )

Right about your TSH levels showing as high if you're hypothyroid, that's why I said "if my levels are a smidge too LOW" :P

Taken from a list:
I'm unable to lose weight with diet/exercise, I feel fatigued, exhausted, run down, sluggish, lethargic, I have developed carpal-tunnel syndrome, I am having irregular menstrual cycles (longer, or heavier, or more frequent) I feel depressed, I feel restless, my moods change easily, I have feelings of worthlessness, I have difficulty concentrating, I have more feelings of sadness, I seem to be losing interest in normal daily activities, I'm more forgetful, lately I can't seem to remember things, I have no (a low) sex drive, I have/may have sleep apnea, My eyes feel sensitive to light, My eyes get jumpy/tics in eyes, which makes me dizzy/vertigo and have headaches.

So yeah. A lot of symptoms. I also always run a low body temperature, which used to be how they'd test for hypothyroidism ( ... )
