[Abby was sitting outside, fiddling with the communications device. If there was some way to connect it to the outside world, she would find it. She would need something to distract her while she was here. Maybe she'd make a video diary to show the team when she got back.]

Another living area. Eliot and Parker passed the South one sometime in the night, and East sometime before sunrise, so in theory, this should be the West one. The hitter rolled his shoulder and adjusted the police vest. After their trip in the mall added new items to it, it was even heavier than what he arrived in.
He took out the mysterious key he woke up with last evening and used the tip to point to the low leveled building. "This is it." He gave the sparse few guests around the entrance a surveying glance. "Doesn't look like they have room service here."

Abby had figured out most of the communication device by the time they showed up. When she saw the man in the police uniform and the blonde approach, she felt a small sense of relief. Police uniforms reminded her of safety and being home. She was no doubt with several people who were fully capable of taking care of themselves, but she also had the feeling some of them came from worlds far different from her own. Without getting up, she waved.
"Glad to see you made it. Well I mean, I don't know you personally, but I'm glad you're not wandering around out there with the worms and whatever else there is."

Abby shakes both hands with equal enthusiasm. An officer and an agent, what a good start. "I'm Abby and I work for Naval Criminal Investigative Services in the forensic lab. If I just say NCIS, people get it confused with that TV show."
After shaking their hands, Abby looks a little bit closer at Parker's makeup and her smile gets wider. "Wow, that's cool. Were you pretending to be a zombie or something?"

[Smiles, tipping her head to one side with a sympathetic look.] Wow. Sad, huh?

"But really? Neighbors?" He raised his eyebrows with interest. "You've been inside and looked around?"

[She pauses, then remembers something else.] They gave us all laptops, which I guess fits with the whole [air quote] "virtual reality" we're supposed to be in.
