Giles at first was not impressed - he's had far more frightening intimidation methods used on him - but when his makeshift weapon turns into a snake in his hand, he yelps and throws it away. His reflexes are fast enough that he throws it toward the Malfoys, on the chance that it will retain its form, though he presumes that if this man has the power to transfigure it in one direction he can do it in the other

[Giles coughs, trying to clear his throat from being strangled still, and he staggers forward a step toward the-- body-- in incredulity. This man must be related to him, they look so similar... and he watched him die. For him.

His brain won't stop going, though, it's like once it started translating it had to keep drawing connections, and gradually it slogs through the deadening guilt to make him realize something.]

No-- he's... he's coming back. [Another cough, clearing his throat impatiently.] There was a woman, on the network. She said she'd died an hour ago and woke up on... [Memory reaching--] on a building on the beach. He's coming back.

[Bro doesn't hear it. Not at first. Doesn't register that someone's even in the hallway with him - with them - let alone that they're talking to him.

He blinks and then there's words coming at him and... what? "He's coming back". The words are meant to be consoling but Bro's unaffected. The logic, or lack of, doesn't matter to him at all compared to what he's feeling right now.

No reply at first. There's tense, tangible silence for at least a full minute before Bro moves, just turning Dave's body over. Still holding on to him. Looking at his face, dead and motionless.

Striders don't cry. As much as he might want to, Bro doesn't. Instead, the stranger gets a lash of that fury building inside of him, higher and higher. Some internal tower of ire rising brick by brick.]

Shut the fuck up. I don't-- fuckin' care.

[Doesn't care about this island or this "game" or anything but the fact that the one person he cares about is gone and he failed to protect him.]

You'll care later, [he answers evenly, familiar with this type of grief.] Rather shortly, I expect. He is coming back and he's going to need you... if I'm right about your relationship.

[As weird as that sentence should be - it's just falling on deaf ears. The elder Strider's tuned the fuck out again. Thinking what he's going to do with the body, what he should do, what he needs to do in general -- and Davesprite.

Too much at once and he really can't focus on whatever this guy's saying.]

[It feels disrespectful to interrupt any further than that. Giles slumps against the wall and wonders what he should be doing right now.

If Dave is going to be resurrected, his body will be needed, so it should disappear at some point. There isn't much else to be done. But it feels... wrong, to leave this scene in which he's culpable. Yet he could be tracking down where he'll be resurrected, and meeting him there--

And undoubtedly get attacked by some monster and need saving yet again, if he could even get out of this dorm. Splendid ideas, Rupert, all of them.
